There are loads of European destinations to choose from. I guess it depends on your budget, how long you want to go for, ease of access, what kinda things you want to do when there

Scandanavia is beautiful and expensive, but Bavaria is an amazing place, beautiful landscapes, good outdoor activities, history and good beer.

Croatia is lovely, and just recently heard someone rave about Gdansk as a city break. Also Prague gets good reviews.

"Lake Garda and Poland are my aim for next year."

We stayed in Bydgoszcz, Poland but travelled 5 hours south to Krakow for an overnight stay then headed an hrs drive East to take the tour at Auschwitz, highly recommend it if you ever go to Poland but wherever you end up it's an amazing country with great historical sites and places, there's even a full scale upside down house with all its contents inside it, your brain will do weird stuff if you go inside it

Not long back from Rome and the Amalfi Coast. Rome amazing sights (but very hot the other week) and Amalfi coast beautiful. Seemed an unusually high percentage of good looking women in Salerno. (Shrugs, I was with my daughter.)

Pervious visits to Florence get a thumbs up.

I priced it too and too expensive for me. Looks great but you would need loads of spending money as its a very expensive place to visit

Loved Milan earlier this year. You get the busy city but not far to get some great views at Lake Como, Best of both I'd say.

Don’t forget about Greek Islands (beyond the expensive Santorini & Mykonos) - eg Naxos, Paros, etc) .. and the lovely island of CRETE. A lot longer than most anticipate (but about an hour’s drive from north to south coast). But with a 160 mile line of various mountains down the middle (running East to West).

Away from busy Malia & Heraklion area (n centre) - lovely sandy beaches to west end (Balos, Falassarna, Elafonisi) and to south coast (Loutro and Palaiochora). Apart from walking the Samaria Gorge!! And Venetian harbours to Centre of Chania and Rethymno. Or Elounda (beach and nearby island of Spinalonga) & Ag Nik to NE.

Lovely (and on cheaper side) food (tavernas often linked to inland farm) and local wine (no additives = no hangover - so long as you resist the honey raki!!).

A bit like parts of the rural south of Italy... (where you also have to watch out for crime & things cost a little more)
