Sooooo I've been on here like maybe 5 months or something like that and in those 5 months I've had one reply to a message and that didn't go anywhere and I understand why......I took a look at the competition 5'10 plus guys who look like they live in Gyms in real good shape v my 5'7 manboobed budda belly. Gym is a swear word to me.

I was out on Thursday and bumped into an old work colleague, first thing he said was you've changed and tapped my belly and commented on how much weight I had put on. It's niggled at me since then and has been taking up most of my thoughts. I took a full body picture tonight for a fitness website that helps you track weight loss/fitness etc and looking at the photo's I was shocked.....NO! disgusted at just how ridiculous I look too many Space Raider's, Johnny's Onion Rings and Cookie Monster Cupcakes not to mention Tablet all while sitting on my bum.

I'm giving up making Tablet now. I bought some scales that measure body fat percentage I'm 193lbs and 48 point something percent of that is fat. No more fizzy drinks, cakes or pizza. This morning I'm going to try and go a run but it'll probably be more of a walk, I cant remember when I last ran anywhere.

Roast me if you want I definitely deserve it. I'll post the pics on my profile as a reminder to me to improve. I'm giving myself a goal to try and get to 154 for 2020.

Firstly I think it was rude of the person to comment on your weight gain no matter how much weight you have put on.

Good on you making the change if it’s what you want. Not only will you look better (in your opinion) but your health will improve too.

Good luck

....and I see you've described yourself as "athletic" ....Optimism...I like that!

You've had a few too many pies OP, not murdered someone so don't be too hard on yourself.

Good luck with the fitness plan. And the next time someone comments negatively on your body tell them to fuck off.

Hope it all goes to plan. Losing weight can be easy but staying slim is harder. You have to adapt your eating habits for life but you will feel much healthier. Walk instead of run if thats what you feel more comfortable with and plan your meals in advance. Good luck.x

Fair play for posting this OP, you clearly want to make changes, but don't let it all be about some insensitive person having a wee pop. I'm sure you'll see the results of your changed diet and increased exercise soon.

I know how this feels. I have injuries in both my knees that stopped me doing alot of anything for a few years.

Still really struggling with one knee. Though I can now at least walk. However my days of rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing and skiing and plenty more are all down the drain ( hopefully for now)

I noticed a difference in the way people began to.. see me sexually I guess.

As you can imagine I began putting on weight lots of comfort eating.. I mean who wouldn't when your so mentally and physically frustrated.

So the weight piled on think I put on 6 stone in 2 years ( yes bad I know) off came the abs, the rock hard calfs and arms.

Though standing at 6ft 4 it doesn't look as bad as it should just got a bit off a belly.

I actually messaged someone on here last year who we used to have meets maybe twice a month so quite a regular plenty of verifications from.

And I messaged them on this new account and the message I got back was pretty much, over my dead body would I sleep with someone like you. Ouch much ? Wanted to retort that many times she did but you know kinds hurt a bit to much. That and I'm not a dick.

However I have scince joined slimming world and have lost a stone so there is always a positive.

Just don't change because other people want you to. Change because you want yourself to

Good luck on your journey !

In truth if it's bothered you about someone's comment about your body then you are not completely happy with your body yourself.

You absolutely don't have to cut every food from your diet. Moderation is key here, do not skip meals ,4 meals a day for men with light snacks ( such as popcorn, nuts ,yoghurts ,healthy snacks) in between to boost the matabolism into working properly and curve hunger pangs . (Make sure meals arent over flowing over plate) , definitely introduce 5 a day fruit veg into your meals. Eg 9am breakfast an orange or fresh orange juice with toast and egg ,12pm lunch salad with hams & water,4pm Dinner steak/chicken/ fish with sweet potato, butternut, broccoli ( sweet potato and butternut very good for weight loss) . 7pm supper baked potato with Tuna /cheese and beans . No snacking or eating after 8 pm .

Exercise is so important but you don't have to spend day on end at gym everyweek, workout at home if prefered.

Do a workout at home(YouTube have good workouts for core, fat , muscle building , weight loss etc... Start now coz Tomorrow sometimes never comes. At first it will seem hard but you will find the enjoyment for working out will come when you start to see results. So don't quit.

By eating right it will help you with the willpower boosting your mind into the right mind set a healthier one .

No one who is over or under the normal weight is healthy , so it's vital to get your health back on track, exercise, change way you eat to healthier way and drink plenty of water. You will start to feel great in about a week so keep going.

Don't be put off by the fitter guys at gym should you go to gym , use it as a goal to get to. Take plenty of pictures to see difference . Scales don't always tell the truth lol. You might get disheartened relying on scales if no weight loss but muscle weighs more than fat and water retention from lack of drinking water adds pounds too .

Apple cider vinegar (liquid form or tablet form ) will help detox your body .

I forgot to add....taking pride in your appearance and self care is 100% a good decision to be making. But don't for one second think the gym fit hotties don't get knock backs too. If I was looking for single guys, the Dad bod with good patter and ability to make me laugh would be in with just as much of a shout as Mr 6 Pack....possibly more.

Good for you op taking a positive from such a negative (how effin rude) my problem is not eating too much but skipping meals when I’m working I’m in such a better routine and routine is often the key to healthier eating, get into a good pattern of regular meals and drinking water, if you try to take on too much too fast you’re less likely to succeed little changes at a time, increase your exercise gently, increase your fruit and veg portions to fill you up more. But most of all have a break now and then and indulge a little at least once a week x

by the same maxim you should find anyone who comments on a persons weight loss rude.

Op be a better version of yourselflis not about your weight size or monetary value.

I dont think your friend was being rude they were talking to you and told you the big diffrence they saw alot of folk seem to get hurt by that in recent times.

I hope you get to where you want to be OP . However I also hope you spend time appreciating all the things you like about yourself too. Sometimes we all fixate on negatives and we then start to feel bad if we go off track .

I started slimming world a few weeks back. Did great the first week, stick to plan the 2nd and gained . Then someone's comments really hurt me and I'm once more comfort eating , but worse I'm now torturing myself over it!

It's great to be focussed but remember you too. We are all much more than the body we live in. I also think it's worth saying that being overweight certainly isn't the worst thing anyone can be. And being slim or 'in shape' isn't the best .

Find your happy point x

This.

I’ve put on weight over the last year after a big flare up of sciatica last year, and I also now have arthritis in my knee. So getting the weight off again will hopefully help matters.

Good luck to you, keep us posted if you like

Good luck O.P

Just about to give it another push myself, Managed to shift just over two stone then really struggled.

Got my metabolism tested and turned out it was really slow probably because of the way I dieted.

Put on over a stone since then so feeling really crap about myself just now.

There used to be a thread on here few years back for everyone losing weight or getting in to shape to support each other. Maybe if theres a few of us again we could get it going again.

I had a lot of problems with sciatica due to a bad driving position. I found getting a deep tissue massage really helped it.
