i will prob get a ban for this but to hell with it as i feel strongly about supporting our troops.is is what an SNP MP said about our troops that were sadly lost this week and if that is the party that are pushing for an independant scotland then we are in deep shit.just my viewbut i think they should be totally ashamed and he should be kicked out

SNP activist: Dead British soldiers are 'a bunch of child killers' - Telegraph

www.telegraph.co.uk

The six British soldiers who died in Afghanistan deserve no sympathy because servicemen are a “bunch of child killers”, an SNP activist has said...

Mr Me god keep the boys safe from any harm.

can i say as a card carrying member of the SNP - that is his view and not the view of the SNP. I think its important to differentiate between the two; or it would be like saying all of the Scottish Socialist Part were swingers instead of just Mr Sheridan. I am the daughter and sister of soldiers and find it devastating when any of our servicemen die

The opposite is true with most soldiers in that they wont fire when there are children in the vicinity the Taliban often hide behind children knowing that the soldiers wont fire on them even when their own lives are in danger.

And you REALLY believe all you read in a newspaper?

I'm positive they wouldn't misrepresent, misquote or sensationalise a story or rumour to sell a few more copies, as we all know that newspaper reporters and publishers are squeaky clean and only ever publish 100% factual information.

Oh, and I'm sure you checked all the facts of this story before you decided to demonise the "activist".

As an ex Royal Marine who has seen active service in more than one war zone in my time, and trainer of some terratorial marines the whole idea of British service men of any kind killing children is absurd. Jim

they most certainly dont jim but some of the terrorist scum use children to decoy the troops into a dangerous situation .This from an ex soldier who served with the Israel army and who him self was seperated on patrol from his troop and given such a battering that he eventually died 3 months later never regaining consciousness.

As a current serving member of the armed forces I was shocked and disgusted to read the comments, and if they are true then he should be kicked from the party. However, I know what a bunch of vultures reporters are, so will only take the comments with a pinch of salt.

I saw this story online. I think it's important to say that the person who allegedly made the comments IS NOT an MP. It's also not clear what he actually does. When you read the article it's very fuzzy on detail. I would suggest it's a bit of mud slinging by a unionist newspaper.

What a sad attitude to hold. Change your political viewpoint as a result of a vaguely worded sourceless smear story? Nothing like barking when the leash is jerked, eh? Next thing you'll be telling us you believe the oil ran out years ago (like the unionist papers said it would in the 70s) or that Europe will throw us out of the club.

Even if he did say it, it's not as if he was stating SNP policy or as if the British army have never participated in massacres of civilians or committed any atrocities. It's a sad fact of warfare that all armies have their shameful histories. That ours, nowadays, is generally an excellent example of how the others should behave and our troops are well-trained, superbly disciplined heroes does not mean that there aren't shadows.

Total disgusted at his comments, if that's what he thinks he should hang his head in shame, 2 of my friends are marines one an ex marine and they must be gutted to hear things like that, when u see the peace keeping work these guys do its an outrageous comment to come out with but it does sum some MPs up, totally out of touch with reality and the common working person

Can anyone tell me where I can read about this man being an MP?

I have looked at various articles and all I can see is he was a party member maybe one of the above who stated he was an MP can give me a link to the story.

Having said that the if the guy in question realy said that then he is badly misinformed.

I have worked alongside soldiers for quite a while now and have never met a more curteous and civil body in all my life.

Nobody is suggesting " our boys" are perfect little angels they are soldiers defending our way of life as well as the freedom of others who cannot defend themselves around the world.

By cherry picking alledged newspaper stories which were published over such a large time period adds nothing to the original debate but merely suggests you are only interested in hammering "our boys " for your own agenda.

every political party has a high proportion of numpties and heid-bangers. the Nats are no different.

the media has taken comments made by a nobody and turned him into a somebody, in order to stir up controversy. You could do the same with the twats in the Labour, Tory and Lib Dems if you felt inclined.

Im not ''hammering'' our soldiers I'm simply pointing out that ''our boys'' have killed and will continue to kill innocent men, women, and yes, children.

Why are people so reluctant to acknowledge that fact?

Does the truth hurt too much?

I wonder how the 'defenders' of such actions would feel if their nearest and dearest had been killed by an invading army.

Do not many Scots still harbor ill feelings towards the English because of the history between the two countries?

The fact that the articles I linked to covered a 'large period of time' simply prooves that these incidents have been occuring for many years but that some people still seem to be in complete denial of them.

Was 'our way of life' really under threat? how?

As for 'defending the freedom of others who cannot defend themselves' did those 'enslaved' people ask for our help?

Did the Afghans ask to be invaded?

Did the Iraqis ask to be invaded?

Funny how the only 'enslaved people' we seem to be prepared to help tend to live in countries which have large oil or gas reserves, don't you think?

Why is the world sitting idly by as Assad slaughters thousands?

Too close to Allah, too far from oil?

I trust everyone will be feeling as sorry for the 16 Afghans, including 9 children, murdered last night by an American special forces soldier as they do for the 6 British soldiers killed earlier this week. But I doubt it. After all they were 'only' Afghans and Muslims.

Flasharry. Your insults do not negate any of the points I have raised. I note you have been unable to answer any of them. Classy !

I'm sure the afghans in generations to come will be glad the Taliban have been flushed out, it is unfortunate innocents get caught in the cross fire but the Taliban are people who use kids as bait, massacred thousands, starved over 160,000, repressed women using there interpretation of Sharia law which most Muslims condem themselves

I would like to point out that we are not an invading force in Afghanistan, we are there at the request of the Afghanistan Government and the UN, so please get all facts right before posting comments. Yes it is unfortunate that civilians are being killed, but that happens in all conflicts. However, the British forces in Afghanistan are using all resources at their disposal to ensure that civilian casualties are kept to a minimum. I know this to be fact as I have served in Afghanistan and will be returning shortly. How the Americans operate is different to us, so please don't paste us with the same brush. With regards to the English and Scottish, I am an English based in Scotland and i know the English have a savage past, but that is it, the past!!!! My live in a small Scottish village and have many friends here, and none of them treat me with any disdain because of what happened.

At the end of the day, Thomas Ball, who made the comment is entitled to have his opinion like everyone else in this country, whether you like it or not. That is why my grandparents thought in WWII so that we could have free speech.

We are an invading force. We were sanctioned by the UNSC to invade but it was happening anyway. We were not invited in by the Taliban who the US had previously recognised as the sovereign govt of Afghanistan when they paid them a lot of cash for reducing opium production (they reduced it by 80%).

We installed the new Afghan govt remember. The last election there was marked by corruption. One that is noted for the following:

Increasing the outflows of heroin/opium.

Profiting from said outflows.

Handing reconstruction contracts worth 100s of billions to cronies they once worked for in the West (see Karzai).

Restoring now the domination of women who last week were restored to the rank of second class citizens by Karzai.

I could go on trust me.

That aside, I know Labour activists who have said far worse than the SNP guy. Doesn't make Labour or Unionism a bad thing. Lets recall most of the country was against the war. People get emotional over these things.

I think a thread attacking the SNP and the whole reason of independence is frankly absurd. As for appeals to patriotism that stinks. The truth is greater than any flag.

Peace. Love. Forever.
