Should winks just be removed?

What’s everyones opinion on winks? Most people I see don’t respond or even look at them. Should Fab just remove them in it’s entirety or should they replace them with something else?

They have an alternative already , its called a message.

Maybe i suppose they could replace winks with some fill the blanks pre prepared messages and instead of a wink you pick a pre written message.

Hi (blank) my name is (blank)

How are you ?

Really liked your profile and thought id choose this pre typed message to make first contact.

Personally i see winks as laziness. Sry OP

Thanks for your response He Devil.

I agree that a message is the preferred and predominantly used option, and I actually use messages on this site too .

What I don’t think you realised is, I was questioning why Fab haven’t removed the wink if it isn’t being used and replaced it with something a little more useful that even you could possibly use, just incase you’re feeling lazy.

People do use them , as goody above has just agreed

My point was only to say the only step up from a wink is a message. And to simplify a message would be have pre written messages . Its only my opinion that they are a lazy way of first contact. Im sure there will be loads of forum users will have a different opinion and will be happy recieving a wink.

Your actual post kind of confirms most dont like a wink and thats demonstrated by your lack of replies. Hope this clarifys my point a little better rather than you think im calling you personally lazy or think im having a dig.

Personally I like winks as a way of making first contact. I agree messages are great, however.... I would rather have a bunch of winks to show me whos interested than an inbox full of "hi" and "hows you" messages.

And on the other side... when you go to the effort of righting a long message just for it to be ignored because the other person isnt intrested its just a right waste of time.

If I wink at someone and they wink back then what follows may be a decent exchange of messages and potentially a good time.

Some may consider it lazy sending a wink, but I would say its even lazier not checking the winker out and winking back... You never know what you may be missing

I suppose Fabbibg a photo is also a kind of wink depending on the users mindset.

The evolution of the wink would be the “gift” thing I’ve seen on other sites (flowers champagne etc). Here is could be a bit riskier lol.

But not for me.

Don't mind a wink but it depends on who it's from. Generally speaking though I think it's lazy. If you like someone, what's stopping them sending a message? It doesn't take long x

Me too, although sometimes don't notice them straight away.

I think a pre-written message is more lazy/annoying than a wink.

We use the wink system, it just shows you have an interest in someone's profile.

Aviemore and regularly visit Glasgow

We use winks, handy little first contact to show you’re interested then if they wink back we drop them a message.

Somewhere nearby

"A mutual wink has led to some fun adventures here, so I'm in favour of keeping them"

Same! It’s a nice icebreaker and a starting point for a conversation. My first messages are usually shite cos I get all bashful and don’t know what to say, so having a wink helps to begin with.

My banter improves with time though (I think anyway, maybe they are just shite forever!)

plenty of people start with a wink then converse, why should it be removed if you arent getting many yourself?

"I just ignore them, do find it quite annoying though if someone is interested enough to wink could they not just message "

Made me think of what might be a better analogy;

Wink = a knock at your front door

(You can choose to answer or hide behind the sofa)

Message only = someone shouting through your letterbox

(You have the same choices but the shouting might be a bit unnerving without the knock first)

Not really ... interested = just send a polite message and no dick pics, I’ll still chose if I’m going to reply. Winks get ignored and then mass deleted every now and again without paying them any attention
