"Try a chiropractor. "

Yeah thats looking like the logical next step. Back to physio then chiropractor. Talk of an MRI as xrays didn't show anything.

I had no idea it could be this painful!

"CBD oil"

Thats the other part I was thinking too. 420 had been suggested but I stopped smoking so I don't think I could do that.

CBD does sound interesting tho. Thanks

Acupuncture is a must - don’t waste time or money on chiropractor - see a physio and someone who does acupuncture- I used to have terrible sciatica and that solved my issues!!

Afraid only thing that worked for me was drugs - strong non steroidal anti inflammatories. Took months to ease it out though.

Not pleasant and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Deffo Chiropractor they’re amazing!! Went with a shoulder injury from footie and nothing helped and two sessions with him ( mind you they bend you and pull you into shapes you didn’t know you could do ) my shoulder eased and no pain thereafter!! Even told me I had one leg longer than the other and fixed that who knew

A lot of sciatic pain if from compression of the nerve inside the pelvis.

Ive got MS I use CBD capsules I will send you a PM.

Lots of painkillers can counteract with each other causing more pain.

CBD takes a few weeks to work but ive slowly reduced the painkillers I use & can actually go through day to day life unless I have a flare up.

Yeah spot on, I've a few friends and family that use the capsules, rather than pain killers. The difference in their daily life has increased for the better..

I have this for a few months at a time .

I found I had to take a mixture of pain relief combined. Ie. Paracetamol..ibuprofen..tramadol.

Its does ease it very well but mainly rest and taking it easy ..then it will eventually ease off..but unfortunately no play till your better.. .xx

Hope this helps..

I’m the same had issues with hips and sciatica as a child, during my first pregnancy I couldn’t even sit down properly it was so bad had crutches etc odd wee niggles every so often but then had lots of pain in localised areas around shoulder and back after car accident, took years to recover and even now still get flare ups in my shoulders and periods of chronic pain and fatigue taking time off work, now I’ve got a diagnosis of fibromyalgia, the sciatica for me is constant and been popping pills on and off over years but side effects from those I think sometimes is worse, I’ve got a schiatsu heated massager pillow and when it’s really bad I use this on the worst affected areas, kills like hell for a day or two but then gives me a few weeks of release, there is exercises you can use tennis balls etc too proper full body Thai massage is good again hurst like hell for a few days and at the time but the effects lay for weeks, just the financial costs involved in private treatment, wasn’t anything I found from doctor and hospital helped I’ve been in pain for the sciatica for at least 30 years !!! They say surgery is an option but I’ve seen more deterioration than improvements with folk I know who’s had it done, if I could tell my younger self anything I’d be saying go for all the alternative therapies before painkillers, acupuncture, massage, yoga, reiki etc

Try an Osteopath rather than a straight Chiropractor as they work on the muscle tissue as well. Helped Hubby's back and shoulder when nothing else did

This pain is just stopping me dead in my tracks and its like people in my life think I'm over exaggerating when I try to explain it!

Feel your pain , think same I have same but scan to take place shortly, been at physio , stretching excercises etc not working however the lady is doing acupuncture to and appears to work and works on the theory’s of realising your own internal pain killer , I have co co-codamol that’s does not touch pain can get other stuff however not really into pain killers as you become addicted ! Have you tried a stretching excercise lie on floor with knees bent and hands in front of you , head up looking then put head down and move knees as sitting on feet slowly this helps ! Study a cat they do the same as you know well flexible creatures , this may not make sense but ask the physio they will know but if can stop taking pain killers as really meant to be short term only ie couple of weeks if that , you take care

Oh wow that sound awful. I hope things are better now.

My dad actually said the same thing as he had lower back issues with a slipped disc and he said i should be demanding an MRI also.

Thanks for that, confirmed my concern and i will definitely be talking to my GP again. Its gone on far too long now xx

Sciatica is not a diagnosis, it’s just the name for the nerve pain. A diagnosis of where the issue is has to be the next step if not resolving.

Nerve pain needs different medication from ‘usual’ pain which is why ibrufen and cocodamol don’t bring relief and tramadol simply makes you not care it’s sore.

CBD might work, might not. To get best effect, needs to be in a sticky substance, so is absorbed from mouth, rather than swallowed.

For those in constant pain/fibromyalgia, pursue low dose naltrexone.

As I said above, I'm pushing for and MRI so I can figure out the cause as I know sciatica is a symptom not a cause. Hopefully they can figure it out as its getting beyond a joke how sore this is.

Have you seen a physio? They usually/should manage to localise exactly where the issue is then work on that but if they rule out various causes then refer for imaging. MRIs are really expensive and don’t scan large areas so it’s vital the right small area is imaged.

If it’s screamingly sore it makes it more likely to be a slipped disc so manipulation could make it worse. Acupuncture will help if you are a responder but it needs done at least twice weekly and ideally by electroacupuncture for disc issues.

I have the same problem so i sympathise. Not sleeping is worst thing. Get some drugs for nerve pain- they’ll help.

Yeah I've seen a physio on and off for 2 years when the pain really started. The exercises and stretches did help back then but this time its far too painful to even do some of them.

Got a pretty good idea exactly where its coming from so an MRI would be ideal now as we have exhausted everything else the GP can really do.

Got some nerve pain drugs already but most times it just doesn't ease it. Im still stretching and stuff to keep mobile and just waiting for the GP now xx

If the physio knows exactly where the issue is, ie entrapment in exits of the spinal cord or entrapment in the hip area, and nerve pain meds eg gabapentin or pregabalin or memantine not making any difference at all, you need orange lighted referral tbh. Push for it.

As I mentioned, LDA is something to push for though your doctor may not have heard of it.
