Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

Hey everyone....as you all know we did a masquerade ball last year which was a great success ,we are now starting to plan another ball for 2012 which we plan to do later in the year....no date yet.....we are currently looking at a few lush/classy/unique venues.....

We are looking for some ideas/themes....obviously it will be the same as last time with no jeans/trainers allowed....

So far we have had a James bond theme and someone else suggested sticking to the masquerade theme....

so cmon peeps lets have some ideas

Jo and Steve

How about a glam red carpet night? Or... A rocky horror theme (different!) or a "swinging 60's" theme???

If you go down the red carpet theme, you could base it on the oscars, all glam and hand out "swinging" oscars lol

how about a 'black and gold' theme. Everyone on arrival gets a golden envelope to contain a drink voucher etc

or a 'heaven and hell' theme...phantom of the opera... high society...

Reply privatelyReply in forumReply +quote

By (user no longer on site) OP

drinks vouchers depend on the cost of the venue etc

Dancefloor also depends on the venue we choose....

but we are listening to people and taking all views into consideration....

Defo not James Bond theme.

Don't think you can go wrong with a masked theme, they've been doing them for centuries.

We could give you a few theme ideas but the turnout would maybe be a bit on the small side

think less would go if it was fancy dress.woman are ok but alot of guys dont like it.thats why the masquerade was great as they just had to wear a mask? Plus costumes cost money that folk might not have on top of the social fee,hotel.travel.drink ect? X auds x

"Last year I was gonna go...but, just feels like a gimmick n less fun to me. "

Then you missed a fabulous night.

Everyone was dressed to the nines. Ladies in evening gowns and ball dresses, gents in dress kilts, suits and tuxedo's.

Everyone wore their Venetian mask and entered into the spirit of the ball, and it was in keeping with the sumptuous venue.

We had extremely tasteful burlesque dancers for live entertainment too.

It really was a night not to be missed and as for the Venetian mask theme being a gimmick?.........It's worked for the Venetians for centuries, I'm happy to go along with a tried and tested gimmick like that.

3 piece suits and hats for the guys, sparkly dresses and stoles for the girls.

Well guys, we had a fantastic time at last years. Most people made an effort with their masks and a good few had some cracking costumes too. We'd be happy with more of the same, but only suggestion is a different venue. The two separate rooms kind of split folks up and a decent sized dance floor would have been a bonus. Much as there were some seriously sexy burlesque dancers last time, it was quite hard to see them if you were at the back. Maybe too many horny peeps pushing to the front .

When you announce dates, we'll have our names down first, so keep up the good work xx

the venues we are looking at are very different to the last venue we used....I am currently looking at a few venues and getting prices....

Yes the dancer were excellent and it was hard to see....thats something we are also taking into consideration aswell as having space to dance....

Hopefully in the next couple of months we will have a venue..theme etc....watch this space....seems it will be popular already lol

The advantage to the Venetian Ball is that it allows folk to go as wild with their costume as they like or to stick with a more straightforward outfit.

As long as it's formal I'll be happy. I love the glamour and the stylishness.

I am sure that you'll arrange another outstanding evening for us.

It will definatley be formal....as I said from the start we are not looking for cheesy dressing up themes.... They are great fun but this even is to do something glamorous and different it's a chance to really glam up for one night..... The whole point in a ball is the fact that it's a formal evening.....

Jo

Ps we are not taking names lol... Getting mails asking for a place when we don't have a venue or a date..... This is simply to give us an idea to find a suitable venue....and to start the ball rolling....
