i agree with you andy , im not a biker but i know a few people with bikes and most of them park the bikes up for the winter ,as for the dafties that do go out in all weather we should just ask where will we send the flowers for their funeral

Having dropped a bike due to frostbite ill agree , but also get why they are asking. Most people i know with bikes dont go out in all weathers so they usually ask to find out to organise days out.

I do know some guys who'll go out all year though

Don't think its worth getting upset about, some people are and some people are not. It would be rather boring if we all liked the same things in life. Personally I no longer go out when its wet/icy, I use the car instead, but I do have the luxury of owning both, maybe people who go out in all weathers do not have a car. Whatever, we are all bikers and when you have got your gear on and astride your chosen beast, then no one knows if you are, or are not, a fair weather biker.

having a bike and using it makes you a biker.

Living in the frozen north just means

there's never any fair weather to go out in lol

I would say im an all weather biker as I have ridden in all types of weather, however.... I would not say anything against the guys who dont go out in the bad weather, horses for courses!!

Id also say im the idiot for doing it, not deride the other guys for taking the more sensible and safest option.

By the way the difficult part in riding in the snow isnt keeping the bike upright, its keeping ur visor clear !!!

if you ride a bike you are a biker, andy if you mean showing how fast you ride a bike it is a silly way to put over you are a biker and not a good way of thinking when you are out riding, take it easy the only person you have anything to prove to is yourself no one else, the last 15 years has seen very mild winters and has led to me riding all year, i have been out in all weathers and know the dangers of riding in adverse conditions and really we shouldnt do it,, but hey sometimes we have to and thats when our skills as bikers come in to play, dont bite at any fool saying anything about your skills as a biker as it could lead to mistakes being made and one mistake could be your first one and your last,,, andy ride when you feel like it and you will be just fine, take care

Bikers that go out in the pissing rain/sleet/snow are bikers without CARS

IMHO a biker is a biker, my wee Virago is as much fun and as good for blowing away the cobwebs as any "big bike" out there.

It's all about the freedom, just as life is.

ok then i must consider myself a fairweather biker too. one reason is, i dont want my bike to be covered with all the crap on the roads during the winter weather, plays havoc on the chrome work which is hellish to keep on top of

Hmmmmmmm, had a great run out today, cold, windy and damp but fun all the same, everyone needs to be capable of riding in any conditions as you never know when it will change (the weather that is!)

makes you safer and better!
