"I think it's just in some men to be capable of this behaviour and no amount of education or threats of jail time will change that. But I do think that education plays a huge part. Teaching kids, boys and girls, from a young age about respecting their bodies and other people's boundaries too. Raising them with the confidence to say "no" in any situation where they don't feel comfortable without apology or explanation. " So true. But it's more about looking out for the signs in everyday life as well. We all have it in us to stop things like this happening. The thing Daniel was getting at was that did he see the signs and choose to ignore them because the guy was a friend. And if he did act could he have saved his friend from something very unpleasant. The biggest question is how many of us have seen something untoward and just ignored it. All ot takes are one or two moments in life to be a hero, but how many times have we turned a blind eye. Not only that the police and the judiciary system need to take a firm hand treat survivors of this with proper respect. | |||
