Just an observation, so correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems all or almost all meets are focused around going out for drinks, or getting hammered. Especially when you look at the meet posts section.

Does anyone actually meet these days sober? Lol

I do not ever drink on a social meet.

If it's an oranised social event as in a night out yes but only a cpl for me.

I wouldn't be getting d*unk around someone I didn't really know in a 1 on 1 situation.

Different out in a large group although having said that, it's been over a year since I was hammered.

If you look at the meet listed, especially the couples, they all seem to be about going out getting d*unk...

Just thought I'd share and see what others thought or do

When people organise meeting they may have a cuppa or they may have an alcoholic drink... I’ve never been “hammered” nor have I been with anyone who was (that’s one on one or in a social group). Rarely heard of it either though I’m sure it happens. Are you basing this on experience or what you’re reading? 132% of people exaggerate you know

OP where do you get your information that meets are based on getting hammered.

Apart from the social aspect which normally takes place in a pub or club which is licenced.

We have never experienced a meet where the person or persons has been intoxicated.

I think the overall experience from fab users is limit your alcohol intake before/during social events or meets.

And if it is an issue just walk away.

Nope I always enjoy a glass of red or two on any meet and expect the same for my meet unless there's driving involved

normally I arrange to go for coffee or something if chemistry is right between the both of us arrange to meet few days later for meal and drinks but in a sensible fashion for drinking for both parties

Even if my social is in a pub, I’ll have a soft drink. I don’t drink on socials or play meets, but don’t mind if others do. If they’re getting d*unk I would leave, but it hasn’t happened yet

On a social meet Most I would have is a small glass of red wine... Wouldn't ever get d*unk... A group social would be different

There is nothing wrong with a drink or two on a meet.

But I wouldn't go daft and get d*unk

Then again if it's someone I had been seeing for awhile and it's what we decided to do that night because yes sone freinds go out and get pissed together then sure.. just deffintly not on a first meet basis

So in summary OP.

Meets are generally not centred around getting d*unk.... quite the opposit in fact and it would be a complete faux pas to get d*unk on a social.

I personally would have a drink on a social maybe just a couple but that's dependent on the meet and could be purely to calm the nerves but definitely wouldn't be getting hammered.

Also after having a browse through the meet section, barely any of them actually say about going for a drink, I think it was all of 6 or 7 over 3 pages of posts.

My first social was coffee...and tbh I would rather have a coffee social first and then discuss drinks.

At a quick glance of the first 10 posts in Scotland Forum, 3 of them mention or infer alcohol will be consumed in copious amounts!

Cocktails tonight (Friday 17th)

26th May Bank Holiday Afternoon Session

Aberdeen drinks

BUT to be fair theses are "Social Events" and not play events, (Before someone shoots me down in flames!!)

The general consensus on a play date/meet most folks stay sober, or partake in one or two drinks only.

The first meet is mostly just a coffee or juice to chat and get to know if there is a connection

I have got d*unk with a fab friend but it was caused we talked that much and I was staying over as had met for a while so was all good - and it was a good night

We have had abit of both,

Have had people over during the day so obviously not drinking then. But if it's a fri or sat night we like having a chat/mini social before taking thing further.

Only had 1 bad experience when guy came in with 15pack of beer, we all had our fun, then afterwards, we thought he would maybe have another 1 then leave but no... he got pretty full on and just kept opening and opening the tins then wanted to go again, at this point was like 3am he had been there since 8pm... ended up having to threaten the police as he wasnt taking no for an answer.

So if the guy comes in with a drink then it's a 4pack lol.

Going based on the fab meets section and what ppl type when they are looking for a meet
