I went today for the first time, but time I travelled from home it wasn't as sunny. Only a few people there, but no one approached me and hubby.

Only stayed an hour or so, but will be back in warmer weather.

Directions

The beach is best accessed from the car park at the headland at Ardeer.

For those the train gets you within 1/2 mile of this at ardeer Station.

Shore road and et voila your there.

Walk past the mural of Robbie burns and keep going, it is a bit of a walk, but we all need exercise!

There’s a certain point where you are far enough away from the normals that with a bit of common sense and lack of shyness you’ll soon find people with a common thought.

Please be respectful to the normals tho, they go go all he way to the end, but not what we’re looking for.

Feel free to say hello, even if your straight, I’m usually the only tranny on the beach, and with the beach being 17,000 steps long, it’s quite easy to have the beach to yourself even on the best days!

It's usually just older guys but there are occasions when I have met couples.

Sometimes you luck out and there are true nudists who go.

It's quite a trek though so expect to walk for half an hour before you get to the part of the beach where you need to be.

None of the main beaches..maybe away from the main resorts. Not that kinda scene in cyprus.

Yes there is and it is official too. British Naturism says that it starts at the Rabbie Burns mural on the beach wall. However there can be some clothed folks and kids at that area sometimes and you don't tend to see many nudists at that area anyway. I would suggest that you go past that to the first area of boulders on your left, that's where I usually strip off.

So all the single guys on here that go to Ardeer, what do you actually get up to? Any of you approaching people sunbathing and trying to engage with them?

I’m a naturist and a member of a couple of Scottish naturism groups. Have heard reports of single guys approaching women and couples at Ardeer and being generally creepy and annoying bastards. Becoming a bit of a no go zone for genuine naturists who just want to enjoy the weather without any clothes on and without any sexual element whatsoever.

I have my suspicions that a few of the single guys commenting on this post are part of the problem.

Basically it would be nice if you would stop being arseholes. You’re going to ruin this place for everyone.

Well said. Once upon a time i wanted to go to Ardeer beach but after seeing some of these forum posts its changed my mind completly.

My take on the whole beach thing.

I generally talk to everyone I meet, I am no saint in this whole thing, but I respect the genuine naturist, as I respect the space of people not wanting to be naughty.

I do go down to maybe have fun, then again just to chill.

I do not go down to make a pest of myself nor approach random people.

Should anyone male or female need an friend to go with, just message me, I can accompany you and fend off any unwanted attention.

Or I can do some introductions if needed,

I should add, people that know me, know I’m not shy, and not frightened of putting people straight.

I should also add, because of my uniqueness, I do attract attention from all quarters, and I have only met very nice, respectful, sometimes surprised people.

People are more relaxed when they loose there clothes, and it is good to chill with a bit of chat.

having been to ardear a few time you get to know what to look out for , now ive seen folk playing and folk relaxing and each to their own. if you go down to relax and ignore others then they seem to leave you alone to sunbathe it also helps if you take a book then they think you are there to relax . if some one comes over and talks to me i will have a conversation with them and like most folk will go with the flow .

now most folk like there space and i would not think of plonking myself down near to some one with out asking first.

Probably about 4 hrs drive or so. Bit of a trek for skinny dipping

I went a few months ago and it was a mess, wheelie bins all sorts of trash washed up. I never knew it was a nudy beach. I went to take photos of the old science centre and whats left of ICI explosives factory.

Seriously, just google it gets you there.

Down to the bottom of the road and rough dirt track to the left heading to the beach. Enter the beach and trek along until your past the rabbie burns mural, hard to miss. Only one way onto the beach as the river Irvine stops you going any further as the bridge is open and cant cross.
