We are Oot and Aboot again...

Dunkeld Cathedral, Perthshire:

Dunkeld Cathedral stands on the north bank of the River Tay in Dunkeld, Perth and Kinross, Scotland. Built in square-stone style of predominantly grey sandstone, the cathedral proper was begun in 1260 and completed in 1501. It stands on the site of the former Culdee Monastery of Dunkeld, stones from which can be seen as an irregular reddish streak in the eastern gable.

////

The Birnam Oak:

Close to the village of Birnam, on the banks of the River Tay, are two trees of immense size, age and legend. The Birnam Oak and its neighbour the Birnam Sycamore are thought to be remnants of the great forest that once straddled the banks and hillsides of the Tay. This forest is celebrated in Shakespeare's Macbeth as the famous Birnam Wood.

" Macbeth shall never vanquish'd be until Great Birnam Wood

to high Dunsinane hill shall come against him"

The prophecy of Shakespeare's three witches DID come true, with the branches of trees from great Birnam Wood, nearly 1000 years ago, camouflaging the advancing army against Macbeth

and any other wee places around

////////

NoN-erotic meeting....if you want to bring your camera and tag along, all are welcome.

we should be there about 10:30-11

Hugs,

Lee and Nessarosa

(Only snow will stop us...but if roads are okay...we still going)

Cool outing!!!

if you ever decide to go...ask for the "Beetle" he takes care of the cathedral and shows people around....(its free and he is really cool)

he can show you some of the graves behind the wooden wall at head of church.

Also saw the last great trees of the forest from McBeth and also saw beatix Potters garden (the chick that wrote rabbit stories....) all within walking distance of each other...

big time history and a lot of fun....weather also turned great for us.

soooooo Hint hint!!! if you get the chance....get oot and about before spring...see some of this marvellous land thats packed with myths, legends and history in your own back yard.

big hugs,

Lee and Nessarosa
