Try Budapest...It's vibrant and quirky, especially the Jewish quarter with the ruin bars

Budapest is good. But if you are looking for a city unspoiled by tourism try eger in northern Hungary. Lovely restaurants and bars.. A tremendous spa facility where the pool and hot tubs are underground and a tremendous historical story "

Europe city breaks is our thing but right now I decided to go a bit further and ended up in Thailand

Barcelona is my favourite city, followed by Rome and Amsterdam but I'd say Barcelona is easiest for a short short break

If you’re looking for something different have a look at ostuni, nicknamed the white city, it’s in the puglia region of Italy.

Little bit out there, but I'd massively recommend Sarajevo. A beautiful, inspiring, vibrant city with friendly people, a sense of optimism and natural beauty.

Friendliest country and people I have ever visited and met.

Tallin was great - really took me by surprise. Welcoming people, great old town, fabulous beaches and forest just outside the city. Mad street art and a funky Scandi take on life.

I stayed in Bratislava for 2 years. It’s very cosmopolitan and cheap for food, drink and hotels. The average summer temperature is about 24-28. I think flights leave from Edinburgh on a Thursday and return Sunday. Highly recommended

Another vote for Budapest. A gorgeous city, so much to see and do. I will say though, a weekend really isn't enough to experience all the city has to offer, you'll need at least 4-5 days to do the city justice.
