Anyone do park run ?

I’ve just started running and this will be my 6th

Just starting to enjoy it now. Still a struggle but I’m getting there. I could never run even as a child. But finding it easier each time so just plugging away and hopefully it’ll click one day. I don’t even mind the mass starts as I just start at the back. I finish at the back too though lol.

So far only done my local one in Inverness but hopefully I’ll manage a few others.

Kudos too you, I was never good at running at school either and built for comfort not speed now

I’ll never be built for speed. But definitely needed to get some exercise in as I do a very sedentary job.

Park runs are great friendly events with the added bonus that they are free to enter

It does honestly I’m not a runner of any serious races doing it get fitter, started on NYD and I’ve got my first half marathon in a few weeks

Participated in the Aberdeen park run this morning and boy is it chilly out there today. Home to relax in the bath

I don't know how you all do it. I hate running over long distances.

Sprints are my think, high intensity. Not that I'm knocking you. Good luck to everyone that has races coming up.

Did the Aberdeen Park Run down the beach this morning too - as 'Kissed' says a wee bit brisk the morn.

I'd highly recommend the 'Couch to 5K' podcast as a starting point. Free from NHS and free download on iTunes and elsewhere.

It got me back into running in no time. You'll take a nice gentle 9 weeks to get up to comfortably completing 5km runs without stopping. At your pace!

My physio recommended it to me after an achilles injury 2 years ago. Once you complete the 5k you can step up if you like.

I now do 10k & half marathons comfortably. Stick at it, set reasonable expectations and don't push too hard in the beginning, running effortlessly should come naturally in time. Good luck.

Thanks for all the support and encouragement. Completed Inverness park run yesterday and achieved a pb 28 min so not fantastic but for me it’s good

Under 30mins is massive! Well done that’s my next target after 1/2 marathon, 30 min 5km and 1hr 10km

Very well done,if you're getting pbs you're definitely doing it right.

Bet you were buzzing all day after that.

When I'm happy with a run I sometimes struggle to sleep at night
