And you can't begin to imagine to sense of community and togetherness that still exists throughout Ireland if you haven't experienced it. Especially outside the cities and which is typified and exemplified by the GAA. That doesn't exist so widespreadly in the vast majority of countries in the world. It's a celebration of national pride and identity! And before I am accused at having a go at the scots again there is a real apathy and lack of pride towards all things national (except for the occasional flourish with the rugby team) in Scotland in my experience. So if you don't make a big deal and celebrate being Scottish yourself on your national day why would anyone else care? | |||
