Just wondering I go to the gym A lot before work, always make work in time and put in more effort than anyone else and been promoted more than most for the time I've been there (1.5 year) now my work is either young (18-23) or older (40+) now I've just been given a warning because I go to the gym before work and my size has started to intimidate some staff, about me I'm one of the most laid back people you could ever meet always help people I often sacrifice myself so other have time off when people call in sick I come in when people are late I stay on

Question is was this justified or is it jealously

Surely this isn’t right and you can put in some sort of grievance? If you’re not doing anything wrong of course

I'm struggling to believe this post. If it's true are you sure there's nothing more to it?

If not, then straight to HR and file a grievance against whoever issued this warning to you.

So let me get this right, your company or direct in line manager has given you a written warning for attending a gym out of working hours and the reason they are giving you is you are intimidating the other employees?

Well if its a large company go straight to HR and ask for a meeting with the HR manager asap.

If they stand by the decision then I would consider legal action.

However I don't know all the facts so I would be wrong to make any direct assumptions regarding your employer.

Nothing more well I wouldn't count on it as more I'll let you decide

2 month's ago there was a supervisor promotion in work I decided if you don't try you don't get so went for it passed the test ect there were 2 other guys who have been there a while and very popular ( I tend to keep to myself, and get the work done) they never got it and I don't know if that has something

Managment is fine with me so are a few other supervisors but it's mainly the workers

Have you officially been given a written warning from your manager that has been logged with the HR department or have you been told " you will be getting one" if you continue to go to the gym.

Can't help feel there is a lot more to this story than meets the eye. 1 post you're saying you keep yourself to yourself then the next you've just become a supervisor. Maybe it isn't your size that folk are intimidated by but rather your new position has gone to your head

You're also 5 ft 10, slightly above male average height.

Is it the size of your ego is intimidating people in the workplace! Remember with power comes great responsibility!!

Could it be intimidating people in another way?

Also “verbal warnings” should have paperwork with them as well.... how else would they know if you were on a warning or not

So many questions and thoughts on this but I'll be as nice as I can...

You're 5'10 so not an intimidating height and you have your face (I'm assuming) as your profile picture and it's far from intimidating.

I'd say it's more behaviour than anything.

Also, look at me posts generally get you looks in a negative way.

You dont actuslly say who gave you this warning , what your job is, what industry it is , what you mean by checking out others are doing their jobs lots of ducking and diving and proclaiming of innocence etc. It is a hard story to believe but im not coming out and saying yer telling porkies till i know more facts. You say its a verbal warning, were you taken into a room and with a witness and documented, given a formal verbal warning , or was it a daft we comment warning by a collegue that we all here about at work , "ooh stay away from him hes trouble etc." Give me some facts as requested ay start of my post and will happily give my advice if still interested.

A verbal warning can only be issued following a disciplinary meeting in which you were formally invited to attend and given the opportunity to take a work colleague or trade union representative with you

I think you have just had a little friendly nod to adjust your behaviour not an actual warning

But as I don’t know all the facts I could be well off the mark

Dark Side of the moon, you been on the mescalin?

The lunatic is on the grass

The lunatic is on the grass

Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs

Got to keep the loonies on the path

The lunatic is in the hall

The lunatics are in my hall

The paper holds their folded faces to the floor

And every day the paper boy brings more

And if the dam breaks open many years too soon

And if there is no room upon the hill

And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too

I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

The lunatic is in my head

The lunatic is in my head

You raise the blade, you make the change

You re-arrange me 'til I'm sane

You lock the door

And throw away the key

There's someone in my head but it's not me

And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear

You shout and no one seems to hear

And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes

I'll see you on the dark side of the moon
