Who is that lingering over there

So I got thinking (happens now and again)

Couple of times recently I've found myself thinking oh I'd like to see that in the cinema or that a show at the Kings sounds good or other stuff like that but then I've realised none of my friends will want to or be available to go

Now I've went to cinema alone before and you do get people glancing over with the hey look at the saddo alone

But what about the theatre, what about bars n resturants

Is it socially acceptable to go to these places alone to enjoy a pint, meal, film, show, concert etc instead of missing out cause well I'm me nae mates lol

I go plenty of places on my own

I've got a local that I goto just to break normality, even just for a soft drink. I find going alone is great for people watching plus has the added bonus of never arguing over where to go next or what to have for food when hungry

You tend to find others do the same and sometimes end up chatting to someone you'd never have normally spoken to or you just sit there like a lonely old person

I like going on my own.

Heard whispers of me being stood up when I'm sat reading my book in a restaurant waiting for food. I found it quite amusing.

I enjoy going places on my own.. As John said, you can end up talking to a wide range of people. It is helpful if you are comfortable with your own company though.

I go to the pub and concerts alone all the time usually get talking to people but I like being by myself a lot of the time. Never had a bad time.

I wouldn't go to bars or clubs alone at night 'cause it's a more social atmosphere and I don't think I'd have fun.

Cinema doesn't make a difference if I'm alone or not.

F*(k it! Strut your ass in there head held high! My OH went to a concert solo once, not only did some guy walk up to him in the ticket line and GIVE him a spare ticket because one of his mates couldn't make it, he ended up thrashing it with a group of people he is still in contact with now. Nearly causing himself a head injury with a group of strangers is one of his very fond memories.

North East Scotland, mostly

To be honest, we both love a bit of theatre on our own - if one can’t make it or it’s something the other doesn’t like. Means you can just sit back and enjoy - love to do it with a cinema trip too. Go for it!

I travel a lot for work so I’m used to eating alone. I actually quite like going out on my own now
