Got a couple of friends coming up to Glasgow from down south in March and they have asked me about the Pond hotel, Lorne Hotel and the devoncove Hotel as they are reasonable priced and near west end.

Has anyone been to any of them and is it easy for them to take guests back to their room??

Ps: My friends are a cpl so no a group of guys

I’ve actually stayed at all of these too the old pond hotel is probably the best of them and even more so for taking folk back the other two are really just cheap places to put your head down

Thank you for the reply. Can I ask if the bar areas were good and how the rooms were. Only going by pics on the hotel sites all 3 look great but not much on bar areas etc x

Tbh I’m not a drinker and don’t really tend to use bar areas but the old pond is a much bigger hotel and it’s a decent size so again I’d say it was better bet it’s a bit out the way though compared to the other two

Ps: anyone else been or know somebody who has been to these hotels?

Hi.

I have stayed at the Pond and the Lorne a few times, both ok and never had any problems taking a guest back, the Lorne has two or 3 bars and the Pond has 1.

The Lorne has a better choice of places to go round about it but the rooms in the Pond are better.

I would happily stay in them both again.

Hope this helps

Thanks mate, Lorne does look closer to west end etc than the pond.

Can't vouch for staying in any of them but in terms of location, the Lorne and Devoncote are pretty central (although on the outer edge of what I'd say was west end) so lots of pubs and restaurants nearby and a busy area. Parking can be awkward though because of that! With the Pond, you're practically in the suburbs. There's really nothing near it bar a hospital and a garage. Plenty parking though and easy enough to taxi to somewhere if you wanted it. Been years since I was in it (I grew up nearby) but was always quite pleasant for a meal!

I’ve stayed at the Lorne a few times and it’s fantastic. Surrounded by amazing restaurants too, with Ox and Finch being right across the road. Hotel du Vin at 1 Devonshire Gardens is lovely also.

CitizenM is a good option if you want to venture towards City Centre.
