"YAAAAY! “Mon the dad” bod indeed! I get the feeling fab males love and embrace female curves which makes curvaceous woman more confident. Wouldn’t it be great if we could do the same for us middle aged guys who are too busy with life responsibilities to spend 2 hours at the gym every day. Great post OP! B x" Thanks buddy. I thought it was appropriate particularly after New Years (broken Resolutions & all), but moreover because I do think that modern media does put unfair pressure on guys as well as gals. We should celebrate the Dad Bod as much if not more so than the Gym Bunny.

"I’ve been fortunate enough to meet up with many fit bods from Fab. However, I’m also realistic & realise that most of us don’t spend the majority of our time down the gym. So this thread is to show the Scottish Forum’s appreciation of The Dad Bod - folk who are not necessarily fit or overweight but somewhere nice in the middle. Perhaps a few curves that aren’t as toned because life demands they don’t spend every spare minute doing weights; still attractive that they catch your eye because they have “that certain something”; & folk you would be proud to be seen with. So ladies (& gents) let’s hear your appreciation of the Scottish Dad Bod either from your posts or by displaying your Dad Bod pics/avatar. ‘Mon the Dad Bods. "How about aspiring for a healthy body? I'm not sure what a dad body is even but no one needs a 6 pack to be healthy. Lifting weights and body fat percentage in single figures does not mean someone is fit or even that they are healthy. Doesn't mean they could run the length of themselves or last 15 mins in a game of 5 or 7 aside. The use of supplements including those that are notoriously dangerous for health such as steroids is wrecklesslessy common place in the persuit of vanity. Even creatine and whey protein used inappropriately can knacker your kidney function for life. We're all programmed genetically differently regardling body composition but I don't buy into this having life responsibilities and no time to spend 2 hours a day in the gym. That to me tells me that you aspire to change your body and that's an excuse. No one needs 2 hours a day to get functionally fit and through time everyones body will change. 20 - 30 minutes proper exercise every day/every other day anywhere (own home/garage/outside don't need gym memwbership) if you're properly motived and over time, will change your body, make you functionally fitter and stronger, less likely to be reliant on medication to control blood pressure and blood sugar and likely to live longer. If some of the responsibilities referred to are kids then that's a good thing, you can be around to see them when they're older and less likely to be dependent on them. This in addition to having a sensible diet and moderating booze. Lots of people would like to change their body shape but won't budge on their booze intake. Well they're deluding themselves. So rather than anyone celebrating something they'd like to change I suggest make the time, invest in yourself, because if you don't respect yourself enough to invest the time and energy in your own health and fitness why should anyone else be interested? " Agreed but we're celebrating the dad bod here mate.

There should be no need to have to justify any body type, it just seems to stem from insecurity to begin with.

"For those ranting off topic to be self righteous or just questioning what a dad bod is... It's a bit like a woman saying she's curvy. Dad bod would be a formerly muscular, low body fat kind of guy who's given up some of the obsession in favour of family life so has lost a some of the muscle tone and put on a few lbs but still healthy. Still able to throw you down on the bed and toss you about a bit but better to cuddle after then that ranges to those who are most likely moribly obese and 5 years from a major heart attack also proclaiming 'dad bod'. Apologies if I offend, I'm too tired and fed up to sugar coat. V x" I assume you mean me by ranting or being self righteous? If so, you're wrong on both fronts. It wasn't either. And I'm not bothered if you're tired or fed up, aren't we all at times. It wasn't off topic, if you read some of the posts you will see that they are trying to justify a "dad bod". You will also see that I posted that no one should have to feel they need to justify any body type. But I also don't buy into excuses as to why anyone can't have a healthy body, and as you've seen I said for everyone that's different.

"...Dad/Mum bods as accepting a stage in life when personal vanity isn't the most important thing anymore..." Fab really need an applause icon for this comment. I also agree on the health bit. However I was more struck by the “vanity” bit. Whilst we can all have a little bit of vanity about ourselves I would never want vanity to consume what actually is truly beautiful on the inside, or make me ugly. Thanks for that post.

"Used to live in the gym 6 days a week sometimes doing double sessions pre fights Then at 35 I retired took up coaching Then at 40 packed it in altogether Now 57 with a Granda bod. Waist size is still hovering between 32-34 when it used to be 28 Got moobs now instead of pecs I know 30 mins a day for 3 days a week will tone it all for the summer but sounds too much like hard work now " I know, I need to set the alarm clock and get up in the morning, done first thing it sets you up for the day. And for me it's less to do with how it makes me look and more about how it makes me feel. Mr's heavier now than he used to be but still has the "phwoar" factor.

"Today's inspirational quote, 'I've met some pricks in my time, but you, sir, are a cactus'. " Thanks for your offering. With all due respect, if I need inspiration I'll look elsewhere! I'm sure the fact that she knows she's got a real little trooper fighting her corner on here will make her feel less fed up and hopefully a little less tired too. When you read the thread and each post on the thread including mine and what it actually says maybe you will appreciate that I haven't been self righteous nor taken the thread off track at all. I have made reference to the OP and previous posters and I clearly stated no one should feel like they have to justify any body type. I also stated that we are all individually genetically programmed so that our natural body composition is different. Now if you have something insightful to say on the matter I'm all ears. Or perhaps you think that 30 minutes exercise every other day in order to stay healthy is unrealistic and unachievable? I'm not really sure what your point is at all??

Or perhaps you think that 30 minutes exercise every other day in order to stay healthy is unrealistic and unachievable? I'm not really sure what your point is at all?? How sweet of you to assume this was aimed at you... Wasn't it? I need to get better at reading people messages. If it was I would have replied and quoted Very uninspiring way to wriggle out of ones actions when we starting dishing out inspirational quotes. Or perhaps you posted that in the wrong place or in the wrong thread and in contradiction to giving the thumbs up to a previous post you have actually taken the thread off track yourself?? Ironic either way. I don't control the chronological order of the threads! No but since only you and I posted in that hour and you had posted directly before me I'd have thought that was logical. Or maybe you're a really slow typer and started typing that post this morning and somehow your other post was posted before it??? It's ok, you can stop now. Starting to dig yourself a big hole and you're only a wee short thing, you'll never get out! Leave it! " Hilarious

"I guess dad bod and average would be similar.. thou maybe average is more doesn’t really worry about what they eat as much? And not been to a gym or ever had a ripped body? " Although I used to go to the gym, swim, cycle and other do several other sports I wouldn't say I was ever 'ripped'. These days I don't have time or opportunity for much exercise so definitely into the dad bod category as I'd define it these days rather than yours although I think both of our definitions share common ground...

Agreed but we're celebrating the dad bod here mate. Are you sure? I think some people seem to be trying to justify it? There should be no need to have to justify any body type, it just seems to stem from insecurity to begin with. " Bit long winded .but a dad bod is one that's got meat on it nice and squishy .but not massive .and not solid tonned
