I've never been into them either. They put on some events like this at Vue cinemas - I am tempted to try a show there.

Anyway enjoy the real thing Op

I love musicals and love the theatre. Would rather sit in a theatre than in a pub.

loved the film also if you ignore Russell Crowe’s singing and Sacha Baron Cohen who I love , check out Matt Lucas as Tanardier (spelling iffy) the way Master of the House should be sung

Going to get slaughtered for this, but I don't know any guy who'd contemplate thinking about never mind attending musicals unless their other half is asking to be taken to one.

But of an eye opener for me knowing straight guys like to sing and dance to medleys.

Fire away.

Wouldn't question their talent, they've obviously honed their skills over years to get as far as appearing in top venues around theatreland.

Only expressing my surprise at guys who show an interest in this type of entertainment. Do they sit at home on a Saturday waiting frantically for strictly to start?

Utter nonsense. Thats like saying a football fanatic must like netball as they are both sports played with balls. I hate strictly.

I didn’t know Les Mis was coming up here. I’d have been totally gutted had I not see it last summer in London.

Yes - I am outing myself lol

TBH Les Mis is a total favourite. Many others I can take or leave but there are many great shows to experience.

And in my humble opinion, the stage version is far better than the recent film for various reasons. But I won’t bore you all to death.

Saw it in London when it first came out decades ago and while it is physically a smaller production now, it is still fantastic. Enjoy you lucky ticket holders.

Not really a comparison, is it?

One's a contact sport played with some aggression and viewed in the main by men who like to vent their frustration, anger too if you like and the other er, isn't.

Just because I love comedy doesn't mean I tune into Mr's Brown's boys.

Wasn't it a novel, then play long before it was decided to turn it into a musical?

Lol - it is based on the classic novel by Victor Hugo written almost 100 years before the musical was conceived. I don't think he intended it to be set to music.

Hmm, maybe in a few decades we'll get to hear about 'the long march', set in a musical background.

Miss Saigon is worth it, if you are really lucky the Huey prop blows dust into your eyes.

Lion King is good too

Phantom well you do root for him

South Pacific was a favourite at the Kings

LLoyd Webber is very talented, you have to watch them to appreciate the talent spent bringing them to life.

I'm not interested in musicals, but I am enjoying the BBC adaptation, despite some of the grim depictions. I don't like Dominic West much as an actor, but his performance as Valjean is immense.

It is also quite faithful to the book, so far.
