Random thread but I've managed to crack a rib (non-sex injury ). I know I will be in pain for a good few weeks but will it put me out of bedroom olympics?

I personally wouldn't risk it, been there before and had cracked ribs for months due to being rough, only takes a slightly wrong position and it's back to day one of healing, mine ended up that bad they'd crack again when I sneased

Truthful answer seek medical advice as certain things you do even non sex related will hinder your recovery . The other reason for medical advice is he can give you stronger painkillers as you will need especially whilst sleeping

My man has had cracked ribs numerous times, very painful but just make sure one does not break then puncture your lung.

He's been there done that

Yes, you have to remain celibate for at least 6 months. No cracking one off either, the exertion can cause irreparable damage!!!

Not out the Olympics but definitely out of the next few competitions until it's healed.

I cracked a rib a while ago and was in agony for about 2-3 months i think. Every breath & every movement caused severe pain. I couldnt move my left arm at all without searing agony which prevented me from driving too. I couldnt even pretend to want sex never mind actually have it, i was just tooooo sore lol

I also highly recommend upping your daily dose of Vitamin C.

If you break a bone it can significantly speed up the bone healing time.

Actually i watched a program about vitamin b and c tablets etc. Its all a con . If you have normal intake of these , you cant actually add to it. Ie popping 10 vitamin c tabs wont give your body the ability to have extra vitamin c intake. They are only good if you have not had enough vit c intake in the first place. If that makes sense.

Go see a better doctor. As to the other side, experiment with complete body restraint with someone who has had significant experience in it, it might sound weird but it's worth a go

One of the things you don't realise, but yeah, sneezing will hurt like hell when you cracked your rib!! And I think it will do more damage than sex OP, but guess you'll just have to try (carefully!!!) and see for yourself. Maybe a gentle wank first and see what happens?

You'll need a hand to lift the wheel barrow

You can get painkilling patches that are used off label for this type of pain.

They are designed for shingles. Speak to your doc.

You don't want to be coughing and I'd seriously urge caution when "letting one rip"

I've had bruised ribs from contact sports and broken ribs/punctured lung from bike accident.

Just take the time required and don't push it too soon...

... where the streets have no name!

when I broke my ribs the xray didn't show them as broken until a few weeks later... but … the best bit of advice I got was from a locum GP when I went for painkillers - he was a retired orthopaedic consultant - he realised that they were broken at the front though the impact was at the back.

His advice was that to sleep with the side of the break ON the mattress - although it's counter intuitive it really was better.

Hopes this helps … how's the constipation going though?

While I agree that day to day taking in more vitamins than your body can use is a waste of time, studies specifically when you have broken a bone have shown at that particular time can improve healing. Orthopedic surgeon colleague always recommends it to people.

Came off my bike a few years back and thought nothing of it at the time, felt fine.

Couple of days later it felt like every time I moved I felt restricted. Felt sore when coughing, but when I sneezed. Feck me, that was like a a knife twisting between my ribs, so off to the docs to be told I had a cracked rib.

Need to learn to fall better

It does help & lets say the constipation is like squeezing malteasers out...
