"Not everyone will be celebrating tonight. Please spare a thought for those who struggle at this time of year. Some of my Fab friends are spending their first Hogmanay without a loved one. For some it will be the last Hogmanay their loved one will see. Others haven’t seen family members due to divorce, separations, arguments, etc If you know someone in these situations, make a New Years resolution to give them a call, meet for a coffee and offer them some support. We can all be kinder to each other and be mindful of our mental health in 2019." Nice message there. Having lost a close family member this year I can relate all too well with this post but thankfully best friend and his wife have made sure I don't slip into my darker places over the festive period.

"So very true. A lot of people forget. It's also okay to *want/need to be on your own to take a breather and have some headspace. A lot of people neglect that too. The soul needs fed and to recouperate. Xx" Totally agree with you. We are all different. We have to listen more to what others need and not what we think they need.

"For me it's not been a good year and even in a month and a half spell I've lost 6 people, 1 was my father and another was a 21 year old lad where I tried to administer CPR, been hard but can't be down about it as his parents must be in a worse state this Xmas and new year . All I can do is try and be positive and hope it rubs off on others My first bells without my kids so they will be out at parties, bitty sad but I'm so happy for them doing their own thing without me . I have a couple of elderly neighbours so I'll prob chap their door n first foot them if they are alone to make sure they are OK " You're right Peter. Difficult year too here but ya got to focus on da light And I know how you feel about the kids growing up and away partying Am happy for my laddie because I know he will have the best of times and mega jealous am no 18 again lol Wishing you a happy and healthy new year Peter x

"As a wee aside can I just mention that if you plan on dropping in on someone just because they're going to be on their own, maybe check first if it's okay to do that "

Most of my friends remind me life is for living. This is the one and only shot we get, its not a practice shot, if we don’t do it today tomorrow might be to late. Im glad I will be spending tonight with people and I suspect I will need a wee moment myself after the bells ??

"The first year is the hardest without a loved one for whatever reason. Take time to reflect on the happy times. Hugs to all of you. Fx" Nice big hug Falcon. Thanks for the thread. x
