Not the usual type of bi . What are the opinions of those with less than 20-20 vision . 2 pairs of glasses for reading and distance , bi-focals or varifocals ? Anyone whose sight is ruined from self abuse please try and stick to the original question .

I have varifocals.

Worn glasses for distance since I was 10.

A few years ago I noticed reading small text was Getting difficult.

Discussed varifocals with optician....they said they not for everyone....you can get nodding dog syndrome.

I have had no issues.....other than the additional cost.

If u are thinking of getting them vision express have an offer on varifocals.

Hi. 53 year old trying varifocals for the first time. Not yet convinced. I’ve got contacts with one eye reading and one eye distance which works great. Varifocals are for nights and weekends. Certainly handy having the one pair but I feel it’s a compromise and two pairs would give you better vision.

Contacts not for me can’t stand anything near my eyes which is murder putting mascara on .

I'm currently juggling 2 pairs ..read I g and normal..have 2 pairs of each at the mo..really wondering about getting veris but have been told there really tricky to get used too??

I was very nervous at first too but there's absolutely nothing to worry about. You don't get them lasered out. If you want to know more pm me sometime x

I have a contact lens that corrects my right eye for distance during the night, but leave my left for reading. Take it out in the morning, no faff with glasses or scratchy lenses during the day

My optician was not impressed as she wanted to sell the expensive stuff but I went with what suits me

That's great news! He may well be more sensitive to the light now as everything of course is brighter. That's how I feel but it's starting to settle a little bit x

I would love to be able to wear glasses. I’ve got a rare disease in both my corneas called Kerataconus. I’m only 33 and now blind in my left eye and need to wear speacial hybrid contact lense in my right that is gas filled... it’s extremely painful but at least it’s all on the NHS.

They keep asking me to say yes to a cornea transplant in my blind eye but I just don’t have the guts for it

I feel that I’d need to be under anaesthetic before anyone went near mine too .

getting cataracts out these days is a very simple operation usually done under Local anesthesic and one eye will only be done at a time . The way the freeze your eye is by using a fluid and if you need an injection its is less painful that getting the needle put in to take blood .

Speaking through experience as i get an injection in my Eyeball every 10weeks

after all the years that i have been blind in my eye ( scar tissue ) and if i had the oppurnity to get the corena transplant i would grab with both hands plus others too as the benefits would be unbelievable either way, meaning if you where blind from birth or remember what it was like to be able to do what prople with sight in both eyes can do .

Really you have nothing to lose but plenty to gain so defo have a really good think about it again if asked
