Anyone got any good home remedies or suggestions for over the counter treatments for spots, I seem to get ones that become infected at this time of year and the usual face washes don’t work.

Why not go to your Dr for advice.

They may be able to give you something stronger on perscription. Steroid injections are also available for bad cases of acne.

Freederm Nicotinamide gel (Boots)

Cerave face wash (oily/combo skin) from Boots too.

Duac gel - prescription only though.

Sometimes tea tree oil mixed with some Vaseline as soon as the spot appears does help. You can also use it on if it is already infected.

But if it's every year at this time of year why not go see your GP for a wee check, immune system can get low in some people this time of year.

Dab a blog of toothpaste (not the gel kind) before you go to bed at night, dries them out.

Go to docs and ask for Duac. My oldest son uses it for similar problem. Works really well

After this flare up clears up, don’t use soap or shower gel. Try using aqueous cream then a bit of coconut oil as a moisturiser, once a week scrub with oats and milk mixed into a paste.
