Glasgow Barbers

I remember when I could walk into a barber shop, tell the guy what I wanted and that was that. He set about his business, did the job, took the cash and I walked out feeling fresh and smart without having to utter a word in the way of meaningless small talk.

These days it seems that even the most seemingly traditional of barbers end up peppering you with questions and engaging it shitty chit chat.

I realise my female peers are quite used to this and indeed, it is de rigueur for hair stylists in a woman-centric salon but it’s not sitting well with this old curmudgeon. When I’m hungover and tired I just want to sit in silence and let the dude get on with it.

Cal me antisocial if you like but I do hate the inane babble that accompanies a haircut.

So... question for the lads.

Can anyone recommend a traditional men’s barber shop in Glasgow where chat is minimal? Turkish or otherwise, I’m not fussed, although I do like the “little extras” I can get at a Turkish place e.g. ear flaming, nose waxing, eyebrow trimming etc.

Just please let me endure my hangover in peace!

I find that if you give off a don't talk to me vibe, use as little words as possible to say what you want, avoid eye contact and have a pissed off, this is the last place in the world I want to be look on your face works a treat for me

John the barber's on maryhill road near summerston end ..took my son's there for years ..proper old fashioned barber. Guy just does his thing and it's all very minimal
