We all hear about the huge block busters and the Oscar winning films . Do you have a favourite film that's not well known and people are missing out ?

Mine is the wonderful "To Wong Foo,thanks for everything Julie Newmar" .

What's your cinematic hidden gems?

Requiem for a dream. Fantastic film that explores addiction in all its forms from frowned upon drug use to the more accepted tv addiction/shopping etc. Doesn’t hurt that Jared Leto is in it too

Rabbit Proof Fence- 3 wee First Australian kids are removed from their mum and sent over a thousand miles away to a training camp for domestic workers as part of a government policy to integrate them into white society. Heartbreaking and inspiring

The Water Diviner - Russell Crowe, set in the aftermath of World War 1 and a father travels from Australia to the Gallipoli peninsula to find out what happened to his three sons who were reported missing in action during the Gallipoli Campaign

Beg you to check it out.

The original is much better than the US remake, which is still good in its own right.

I didn’t know there was a US version.

The original was Swedish wasn’t it? Regardless it’s the Scandinavian version I meant.

The film Gallipoli from the early 80's, with Mel Gibson. A different take on a war story, heart-breaking and still relevant today

Frailty (2001). It could be viewed as a standard crime thriller, and not exactly unknown given the cast, but for some reason this movie has stuck in my head for many years where most others are long forgotten, yet I never hear anyone mention it in lists like these.
