They are saying people are now addicted to their phones and look at them every 12mins.

So are you an addict?

How oftem do you check your phone?

Are you lost without it if you accidently leave it at home ?

It's little wonder with all the nudges forced upon us to use them for everyday things like banking, paying parking meters, paying on the bus/tram, contactless payments.

They force these things upon us more and more then tell us we're addicted. Yeah no thanks to yous, you feckers!

I’m old before my time in terms of stuff like this however.... if I loose or break my phone. Content without it. Never miss it.

Forget or it or dies on battery, life is over.

I do check it far too often probably about on the 12 minute mark. Passes the time!

I didn’t own a smart phone with apps until about 24 or a a mobile till I was 17.

Yes that is true but lots of what you just said really does make a difference to YOUR life. Banking , no need to drive miles to deposit or transfer, 1 minute and it's done. Same for paying bills. Ordering good 1 minute and it's at your door next day. What has been FORCED upon you that does not enhance your life and give you more free time to do things you enjoy. ? Not having a dig just curious what has been the negative side other than the loss of interaction with other people.

The thing I dislike about mobiles is the fact that people can get you at any time.

My work area has a no phones on desk policy, and to be honest the days I forget to lift it in the morning or leave it at work, the only thing I miss is being able to play a game or two during my spare time.

I didn't say these features aren't life enhancing or that there was a negative side.

I made an observation on the parallel that we are being nudged and encouraged to depend more and more on phones to do everyday things, only to be then told we are addicted to them.

Deffo lost without it..we need it for everything nowadays..I’ve seen me feel my pockets and not feel my wallet..no panic but when I don’t feel my phone it’s a pure anxiety attack lol

Yes I’d say I was addicted but I can and do put it down and will actually enjoy time with my kids or out socialising and leave it in my bag. I hate to see a group of people out for dinner all on their phones.

Im a carer for my mum so I do need to be reachable but when there’s an alternative in place I like to go off radar, even if it’s just walking the dog and not be contactable.

Another reason is it’s FULL of my music so I use it as my entertainment in the car/house/walking as I could live without the phone part but not the music

I often go days without my phone, I carry it during my shift at work as its needed to contact other colleagues but once im home I put it down and forget about it, keep myself occupied with the guitar, writing, Netflix or cooking or whatever. When im on my days off I can easily switch it off and go the whole time without it.

I often leave mine in the house when I go out, to be honest I could really do without it except for the family and work.

I’m Mick & I’m a phonaholic. Jeez I feel better now after admitting that! But seriously, I’m more on my phone since joining this site than i was before, if that’s possible. I honestly don’t know how we managed before mobile phones & the internet were invented!
