Whats everyones favourite whisky? You cannot beat a single malet poured straight from the bottle, no water, no ice just pure flavour ????

Just a background character

Struggle with whisky. Don't mind some like Balvenie, Glenfiddich - but just can't handle the peaty ones like Laphroaig - smells like a 1970s hospital corridor.

Either Abelour or Fettercairn fior probably.

I'm half way through Dalwhinnie 15 at the moment which is really nice though.

If you are only having the whisky near you are missing out.

About 2 drips of water in a single measure emboldens the flavor, try two glasses side by side, one neat and one with a couple of drips of water

So many to choose from.

Benromach is a favourite as is an older style Glen Ord.

The Scapa 16 year old is very sippable.

Quite partial to Octomore (6.1/8.1/7.2) nowadays. Or Bunna 12.

Currently enjoying the occasional nip of a very nice bottle of Macallan 18 year old triple cask which was a gift. Absolutely delicious with just 2-3 drops of water.

Have not long finished a bottle of Caol Ila - very nice. Controversially I’m quite enjoying Cotswolds Whisky - very good considering it’s English.

A bottle called Eagle Rare.

I was never a fan of bourbons, but this is now my favourite. It comes from the Buffalo Trace distillery, but that shouldn't put you off. Tastes like my archetypal whiskey, the flavour I get in my head when I imagine one. Leather and just a hint of smoke, a bit like old books, with strong, sweet toffee/caramel/vanilla notes, giving way to a lovely, smooth finish. Very drinkable. As it develops, it gets sweeter, adds a few banana-esque notes, and even further becomes more and more floral (though the finish gets pretty harsh once it hits this point though, definitely a drink to finish quickly, and with little to no waater in my opinion).

Highly recommend to anyone. It's not a bad price either.

Really enjoyed a bottle of cragganmore recently.

Right now I have a Dalwhinnie winters gold, straight out of the freezer as recommended. Well worth a try for something a little different.
