Observations and interactions

Good morning my little fab friends.

So as I sit here sipping coffee before I throw myself at the world, I thought I would share some fab observations of mine with you (fabservations if you like).

Now granted, my observations are based on interactions between single men and women, as it's single men my fanny seeks, but I'm happy for all to share observations on *your* interactions .

With me? Good

What has me posting this is my observation of how the style of interaction can change very quickly from purportedly 'nice' to 'not so nice' undertones when an opposing view or a wee bit of friendly ribbing of comments is offered.

What are your observations?

You mean like people offering a free room but only "free" if you do sexual favours?

"You mean like people offering a free room but only "free" if you do sexual favours?

I had nothing specific in mind when I posted, just general musings.

But yes..this could be an example of the kind of thing I'm alluding to

The age of internet dating, cyber sex and way too much porn! It's too easy to get laid these days. People have forgotten / never learned how to talk to the others in the real world.

Oh god the forums are a minefield!!!

As most know on here I love a good debate but too many take a difference of opinion personally and then all hell breaks loose usually by name calling or telling others their stupid or wrong.

I know it is said alot on here but yes you can tell who you would rather stay clear of just by the way folk carry themselves on the forums.

Anyone can be however they want to portray themselves behind a keyboard. Doesn't take much sometimes for the guard to drop and real personality to come through, and it's easy again to sling insults from behind a keyboard because there's no comeback and they can slink off into the internet ether again. Therefore they think they can talk to others however they wish without repercussion.

People are much easier to assess face to face. Hence why some people (not just guys) find it much harder to get laid in real life and why places like this are full of losers.

If they are comfortable enough in their own skin do you really think they care about how they are perceived on a swinging forum?

This exactly!

Anyone who cares is playing a game, and is exactly the same as the reason you started this thread. Because when they are found out they revert to type.

Begs the question OP, are you who you say you are or who you think people want you to be on here?

Ooh...now how to answer that.

I reckon I'm fairly consistent in how I portray myself both on the forum and in messages.

I wouldn't say I do this in such a way to please others here...so I'm not what other people want me to be

The forums are such a small percentage of the users of the site it’s amazing what you can find if you put some time into searching .

As for myself I’d say Gloria Gaynor says it best “ I am what I am

And what I am needs no excuses “ and “ I will survive “

way I see it is if someone has gone from nice to not so nice is because they are losing patience.

More often than not on this forum people say stuff because they want a reaction from other members and usually get it .

I know the ones who want a reaction from me but they never get it because thats not why I use the forums.

Keep it fun because beautiful things happen when you distance yourself from drama

Do you mean a perfectly pleasent and respectful chat of about 10messages each, swapping of face pics and an agreement to meet for a coffee.

There are many many folk we wouldn't meet after reading some of the vitriolic and spiteful abuse they direct at others and seem to enjoy belittling folk on the site - the grammar police is one group, the condescending prats are another but there are plenty other categories too - they give a good snapshot of their personalities by their replies and comments

While I admit I haven't met many people from here but since the advent of the internet there have been forum's where people profess to be something they are not. People pretending they are tough when in real life they wouldn't say boo to a goose, People pretending they are rich/smart but simply are not and of course men pretending they are women just to get cheap thrills.

I cannot see this site being different and as such it will have a percentage of pretenders.

I think what’s most relevant to the essence of the post is the nature of text only communication.

When we interact with another person face to face, the breakdown of the message breaks down as follows... Tone of voice 37%... Body language 55%... Words, only 8%

So, when you read a text only message, no matter how many of the 18 available emojis on fab you use, you have a 92% chance of misinterpreting the message, especially when attempting humour as it can be very subjective.

Dropping grenades into a forum thread has a 100% chance of upsetting/offending at least one person though

I portray myself perfectly on here for my own liking, and that will do for me.

I tend to find the people who don't like me are the bullshitters, sycophants, those that dish it out but can't take it back and the frequently-posting crop of insecure men who take every opportunity to affirm to themselves, and the site, that they are one of the good guys. (We all know who I'm on about here)

There is no short supply of any of the aforementioned.

The views I post on the forums remain my views face to face. I’ve had many conversations from people who have responded positively to my comments, insights, advice and experience.

Only once have I received a negative response and felt personally attacked on the forum.

I do feel privileged when people take the time to message me or ask for my advice.

My observations are that the forums are great, informative and educational most of the time. Fab is a community that reflects all walks of life and unfortunately that includes those who like nothing better than to bring other people down or to make negative comments about a subject that others find interesting.

"The views I post on the forums remain my views face to face.

Can I ask which threads you find most educational and informative on the first page of the Scottish forum at the minute?"

Haha! I think that's called, checkmate!

Surely Falcon should be free to say which threads she’s found educational and informative without being confined to the first page?? That’s IF she wished to comment on that at all

The word 'mostly' was the reason I used the first page ...surely that's where one would expect to see the most informative and educational threads?

Nope (Just my opinion of course, if that’s yours that’s fine)

Agreed but I’d suggest there might be a difference in what someone might find most educational in their fab “lifetime” and what’s on the Scottish forum first page

What you call a negative comment others may find funny

I see people say often that we all use fab/the forum for different reasons.

If that reason is for amusement and fun (not in the sex sense), that appears to be a sure fire way of the 'nice' folks turning not so nice.

That's this morning's little fabservation

Sounds as if there's a story behind that

"My observations on the interaction of others...

Some appreciate Logical Inference and David Hume. Other, less enlightened people, dare to call it philosophical nonsense!!! "

The world would probably be a better place if more people read Hume, or others from that particular area of study
