If Scotland merely qualified for a major tournament then our hysteria would far outstrip anything the England fans have shown so far

So what if the commentators are annoying, they are English. It’s up to BBC Scotland to provide their own coverage if they wish but they choose not too, probably because they see the ratings for English football which contains the same commentators and pundits every week on MOTD

My Grandad fought beside Englishmen in WW2. I lived there for 11 years. A fair % of Scots have family there. We share a language, currency and culture that punches above its weight globally.

We should be proud of that....

My observation - and I am not English - is that magnanimity and generosity are evident in the attitude of the English in this matter, but that these attributes are very often lacking in the attitudes of the Scots and the Irish whete England's success is concerned.

Of course they are, i never suggested otherwise... my point is there are still a lot of English fans who are against Scotland.

Opening post almost suggested all Scots commit race crimes when they attack England's success which is dribble (yes there will be some).

My point is in both sides there is a bad element who behave very poorly.

I would suggest most Scots who don't want England to win it's because of friendly rivalry and nothing more e.g. if England win the tournament majority of Scots will congratulate their English friends/family on their success... there is nothing wrong with that.

Everyone is entitled to support or not support whoever they want, get over it. It doesn't have to be anything to do with small mindedness or being petty.

Can we apply the same when the English spout the utter bile that they do about the Germans and the Argentinians and lap it up when they go out? Because that's simply an inferiority complex and an inability to get over multiple defeats in major tournaments. They take it a step further in the Media and try to make a laughing stock of Maradona, a troubled guy with a drug problem who they can't accept was the greatest ever and still haven't gotten over the fact he beat them single handedly in 1986. Is that what we do these days, laugh at people's problems???

Very selective the English media were never so harsh on other troubled stars such as Best or Gascoigne who they portrayed as lovable rouges.

So suck it up people, everyone is entitled to support whoever they want. I have been in Scotland for over 30yrs now and maybe i am imagining things but i have noted how many Scots now see to not mind how the English are doing.

I want them to win of course but it is rather silly and demeans the Scots that some cannot see beyond there rather sad and parochial views.

Oh and it is not shared by the vast majority in England who support any UK team at a world cup.

i know their are scottish people that want england to win and that their choice i don't because

1 im a scotland football suporter first and foremost you wouldn't expect a man utd suporter to want man city to win arsenal to want spurs to win

2 im not racist not wanting england to win

3 i was born in 1965 ane well done to england for winning in 66 i think it was lol but please stop talking about it in games
