You’re confusing music snobbery with some sort of greater musical insight. There’s plenty worse than Ed Sheeran, he’s just become the first name that people mention in this sort of context - it’s just lazy journalism.

Whatever else, what he does with a guitar and a loop pedal is an incredible talent.
