It looks like the worst fears are coming true for the Frightened Rabbit singers family.

RIP Scott Hutchison - one of the greatest Scottish lyricists and a lovely guy to boot.

As a person who has family a family member who suffers intermittently from similar issues , this truly breaks my heart ! I was close to tears when reading the update this morning ! I know how helpless both sides are in the situation leading up to such tragic events !

His torment is over , and I really hope his family are strong with each other and give each other the love and support they will undoubtedly need ! So so sad !!

It’s the news I really didn’t want to hear. I was hoping against hope that he was laying low somewhere nursing an almighty hangover and just taking some time out.

I don’t know him, I only knew his music but I cried this morning when I saw the news.

Its such a sad situation. It hurts my heart that it came to this for him, and so so many other young guys.

I’ve suffered from mental health problems on and off for years, but am lucky that when I was at rock bottom and could only see one way out I got the help and support I needed. There are so many people that suffer in silence, or ask for help and don’t get what they need, and that’s a fucking tragedy.

So sad to hear this confirmed, Scott was a great guy and would do anything for anyone. Met him a few times and he was so down to earth.

RIP Scott, will never forget your Hector rendition xx

As someone who has a history of depression, I know how difficult it can be for people to cope. Sad to see this young guy dead when he seemed to have a decent career and a lot more potential.

But no matter how someone seems to be doing in terms of success their lives can still be unbearable for them.

Having a career that puts you in the spotlight can be too much for many people.

I’m not terribly familiar with him to be completely honest but it is horrible to see a guy that is younger than me dead when he had a lot in front of him and had family and a lot of fans.

RIP.

It’s still so sad that mental illness is pretty much swept under the carpet. We all have times when things get us down and don’t know how to cope.

I personally have had depression since my late teens and when that “black cloud” comes over, then all can seem lost and you don’t see a future.

Look out for your friends and if they are feeling down, just take a few minutes to think that it might be more than just having a bad day.

I saw a post where he had sent a hat and a lovely letter to someone who had been struggling with depression, and the words he wrote were heartfelt and so supportive.

It’s so sad that he wasn’t able to see himself in the words that he wrote.

Sad news indeed. I was hoping for a positive outcome to this but sadly not to be. Scott seemed like a really nice guy too and certainly cared for others well-being but was obviously a troubled soul with problems of his own. Such a waste. Really good band too.

RIP Scott.

Fair enough, although it’s not really about team allegiances. It was about reducing his mental health issues that led to his suicide to team allegiances.

And sure, no offence was probably meant, but mental health continues to be a serious and often debilitating thing for many, for whom being taken seriously may already be difficult. So the constant drip effect of making light of those issues is maybe less than helpful.

I work closely addressing such issues through work. The context in which I referred to was jambos that I have spoken with after most matches

Can we get this away from football now. Only reason I originally mentioned it was because it was one of the last times I saw Scott truly happy, I certainly never meant any disrespect and to bring the thread down...

It's a nice attempt at deflection, I can totally see why you're doing this, cause you have said a despicable thing, but it takes nothing away from the fact you think it's humorous and acceptable to mock someone's suicide.
