I wouldn't say I have an adduction to sex but I have come to realise it has a huge effect on my mood/mental health. People closest to me have also commented on it.

its only an addiction when it impacts on real life.

There are many on here who are meeting 3/4 times a week is that an addiction to them? who knows!

I can go months without and it wouldnt bother me at all

A recent Radio 2 programme covered the issue quite well. There's a vast difference between feeling a bit fed up and ending up in thousands of pounds worth of debt because of a perceived need for sex. Longest I've gone without it is 6 weeks when Mr used to work away and it definitely affected my mood.

The honest truth is that I was a 24/7 carer until recently and had nothing like a social life and suddenly I had all the freedom in the world when that ended and and I got overly hooked on sexual stuff because I had time on my hands.

For a couple of weeks, sex was all I could think about to be honest. It has eased a little and become more structured but addiction to sexual acts or even porn or other things is certainly a real thing.

There is an adrenaline rush related to sex in the mind and having that rush can be compelling.

I can imagine it could destroy lives in that level of intensity over a long period though.

There are thousands of sex addicts in the uk and if anyone is concerned there are a few good local group meetings in the west coast, SAA use the twelve steps principle when battling with sex addiction, If sex, sexual acts, pornography, sexual thoughts are impacting negatively on one or more spectator of you’re life then potentially you are a sex addict, like any addiction it only serves to give instant gratification and quickly the high wears off and you are looking for your next fix
