You have to get Nun cookies.

There is a convent that contains Cloister nuns. They are not allowed contact with the outside world. But they sell awesome cookies. It's all very secret squirrel, you have to knock and there is a little turn table you place the money on it, they spin it. And when it spins back, your cookies are there!

Prefer Madrid to Barcelona

Stayed at a hotel on the Gran Via which is a great location for exploring the city

Also buy a tourist 3 or 5 day ticket for the metro - easy and quick way to get around

The Prado museum is superb and for football fans 2 great teams and stadia to visit ( managed to get tickets for atletico v Chelsea when I was there)

Leave plenty time if taking a train from the station as it is absolutely massive and finding the right platform can be a trial.

I think it is a pretty long journey to Barcelona. ...I was thinking of having a night or two in Barcelona....I have been before ...just watch out for the pick pockets they are everywhere! !!
