Ah yes can see how that would lead to judgmental comments from strangers

After the fourth 13hr night shift, was in a supermarket picking up the goodies required to munch through a day of trying not to sleep, and got a comment if I couldn’t hack going out to all hours I should just stay at home

Somewhere nearby

I hated doing night shifts.

Eating my lunch at 3am felt wrong, eating my tea when I got home felt wrong and I only ever managed about 4 hours sleep in the day time , so by the end of my block of nights I looked like shit, felt like shit and could not have been more grumpy.

I couldn’t hack it these days

I quite like doing nightshifts, but folk being judgemental did piss me off. Callers at the door, in particular... “Did I get you up?” with a sneer. Yes, yes you fucking did. I’ve had two hours sleep, arsehole.

.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have an issue with people ringing my doorbell when they don’t know my shifts. I do mind the attitude. Even if I don’t work shifts, it’s none of your fucking business when I sleep.

I can look and feel shit without doing nightshifts. I guess I'm just a natural.

I'm not intending to derail the thread, but that sucks. I can relate sorta, as I'm diabetic, and when having a hypo, you'll glaze over slightly, and my normal symptoms are not being able to talk properly and my balance goes a bit. People will occasionally assume I've had a bit too much to drink.

Non-obvious illnesses suck.
