Do you think this will make this a better site when it’s rolled out this year. For those that don’t know the government plan to block access to all adult sites unless you sign up to an age verification process. I’m assuming this site and sites like it will be part of this scheme

At my age I’m not sure it will make any difference, does it mean I need to tell the government about my internet history? Ffs I hope not

Is age Veri really an issue here is it fake profiles and people pretending to be people they r not which if there over 18 or 21 or whatever they do then how would it stop any issue here just my thaughts

my hope is that a large part of the arseholes on here are under 18 and just getting kicks on here by annoying everyone

There are massive challenges ahead for sites with adult content I’m assuming this site will come under that. The scheme rolls out in December now and will require you to give personal details to an age verification site something like passport numbers credit card numbers driving license etc before being able to access here. This will leave some people worried about privacy and hacking it hopefully will stop some of the time wasters who can’t or aren’t able to sign up but also may mean drop in membership too if real swingers

Seems nuts to have it on a per-site basis. What would surely make more sense would be services like the password services you get just now; you sign up to one, get verified, and then sites you join can get your age verification from there.

Sites like this could suffer heavily; people will have difficulty trusting small sites with that kind of information.

Thats exactly how it will work . Google passport etc will just be used by other smaller sites to age verify. You tube does it just now for certain videos, like fight videos and stuff.

You have a mobile your tracked , car you have cctv everywhere, commute , cameras on every mode of transport, office- cameras, shopping -street cctv and shop cctv . Banking - tracked , internet- tracked . Why do you think when you look at a product on line the next time you log in suddenly theres loads of that same product you had a wee peak at 4 days ago flashing up in adverts, oops your browsing history was tracked , then sent to companies selling that product who now bombard you with prices for that product you showed 10 seconds of interest in 4 days ago.

Correct. And I expect it's no different on here too. Fab will likely sell your data too - why wouldn't they, loads of companies do.

Unless you ditch every electronic account you've ever opened and rid yourself of your tech, then you're tracked, monitored and used to and for marketing.

Even then, your details are still out there for good.

I think it will lead to a drop in membership but not from timewasters but from the amount of married men and women on here that are cheating on there spouse because once they have the passport id number they can then be hacked just like that site ashley madison and folk can start getting harassed

Supposedly its a one ageid account setup and this will let you access 1000s of sites using the same tech. Rather than each site asking for verification its self. Well according to the tech spec i just read

I know all this its the reason I limit the contact I have with these systems as much as possible (im sure plenty will be pleased to know I wont adhere to this new system) I dont get bombarded (to my knowledge ) as I dont use there things facebook and other lifestyle scraping apps.there are ways to limit interactions but its getting harder and harder to steer away from them. This age veri thing is a disguised mode of garnering further info on you and limiting your freedoms

So the government once again attempts to get involved in something involving IT... and once again exposes itself as woefully out of touch with the modern world and technology in particular.

The BBFC themselves have come up with question marks in some cases. To give one example, their response relating to Twitter - which isn't a porn site, but believe me you can find it on there - is:

"The organisation would 'ask Twitter to close down an account that had hardcore pornography', and classed it as an ancillary provider like payment providers, but added that it would not have 'the power to compel it and we don't know how Twitter would respond.'

Well, obviously. They can't ask Twitter to close down a porn account if it doesn't breach Twitter's T&Cs. After all, it's only the UK asking it to do so. That same account may be absolutely no problem for someone to access in, say, the US under current regulations without a pay wall or adult age verification.

Then there's the common schemes being touted which are credit card based "for ID / age check only". Which is fine for those with credit cards (assuming you trust anyone to hold data about your adult activities, I'm fairly certain ex-customers of Ashley Madison might not be keen), but how about those who don't have one, or don't want one, or can't get one? Are the government denying someone access to something legal because of their credit rating? That's dodgy ground.

The Open Rights Group have written the scheme off stating that the "BBFC will struggle to ensure that Age Verification is safe, secure and anonymous", which are huge factors.

As for the concerns about children accessing porn "accidentally" (a major reason for this legislation being drafted), a lot of that lies with parents and their own lack of knowledge in how to tighten down their offspring's internet connection. Or not caring and just wanting someone else to do their job for them.

Yeah, it's obvious I'm against it but I'm generally against any form of censorship - which this is, to some extent or another - and politicians trying to pretend they know about computers when they've patently demonstrated over the last couple of decades that they seem to live in another century.

This has "disaster waiting to happen" written all over it.
