Go for fibre it’s the “ dogs bollocks “

Obviously virgin are fastest download speeds up to 300 Megs customer service not always the best though . Try Martin Lewis , compare sites for best deals and service .

I've always been with BT. Never a problem, and manage to haggle a good price too.

BT own the infrastructure, so even if you go with an alternate company, you're relying on how they manage their network capacity (eg. if you're in a tenement, you're likely sharing your fibre with all your neighbours if you're all with CheapyNet company)

If it’s close by and enough people in your street express an interest they may hook you all up if it means they’ll recoup costs through contracts .

Thanks guys. We are getting low speeds with Sky and can't get Virgin. BT may be our next option but we did have probs with them in the past. Might be easier to move lol

Sky , by , plusnet wtc will all use the same network cables to get to your property only virgin use their own . Check out 4g broadband via a mobile network could possibly be better if your in a good 4g area . Not great for multiple users on at the same time though .

Depends where you are and exactly what you need but many other ways like satellite broadband?

BT, but whilst it's never been great, it's been really failing for 6 months. No point changing as it's the same infrastructure.

It's not been on for more than 15 minutes at a time this evening. Just constantly cutting out. The hub is like a disco light, colour changes and flashing.

I had BT broadband when I first moved into my flat. Never had an issue. Switched to Sky when I got their TV, just for ease / package deals, but when I grew tired of them gouging me, I immediately switched back to BT for reliability.

I upgraded to BT Infinity a while back. It’s been blisteringly fast and 100% reliable, and I’m a heavy user. BUT my dad, five minutes up the road, is on the same package and isn’t happy with his service.

You’ll hear good and bad about the top five or six companies, unfortunately.

Thanks. It's so frustrating. It shouldn't be this difficult a choice in today's technological world!

Virgin all the way here ..couldn't be without it ..as said previously if enough households in your area express an interest in Virgin they will look into the possibility of cabling that area

Virgin fibre optic. I was with talk talk for a while and they were awful. Check Virgin as they usually do deals. Might be an idea to register interest in them but not commit to anything and after a few weeks they will send you out a deal xx

I work in IT and have been a customer of BT, SKY and Virgin.

Current set up is SKY because I can’t get Virgin in my flat.

BT lost their Openreach contract and no longer have monopoly on phone lines.

Broadband users should always look for Fibre Optic providers as they piss all over ADSL.

Virgin currently lead the field here and have done since Cabletel days. Some companies now buy into fibre but rent the lines from Virgin giving them the power BT once had with your phone

Personally I prefer SKY for TV and Virgin for Broadband

My opinion only
