hi will be hopefully touring scotland for 2 weeks from thursday 20th Aug in our motorhome any nice places of interest anyone would suggest stopping for afew nights "wink"

Hiya a big warm welcome to scotland.The best thing to do is go to the local tourist board information centre.They will be a great help.If u come to glasgow the locals will help u as well

Hi, maybe get near edinburgh en-route for a day, enjoy the festival,if going north can i suggest hit forth bridge before rush hour else your facing crawling over it in the same time you probably could of done Edinburgh to Aberdeen,lol,Anstruther in Fife for the best fish n chips in the world!!

Central section of scotland and west is fantastic,mountains and scenery wise, the road from Perth to Fort William is a must,Glencoe etc,fab, enjoy.

Theres a website on wild camping specifically for motorhomes - forums will give you hints on wheres good to stay overnight (wink wink)

Scotland's a big place for such a small country. I'd suggest coming up the east coast from where you live (looks lovely by the way) through Northumberland and the Scottish Borders to Edinburgh then through Fife to Perth. North to Inverness the either north or west depending on how much time you have left. Either direction the roads are crap and the fuel's dear but the scenery is fabulous. Watch out for the midgies - they're lethal. Back down the west coast via Fort William and Glencoe (as suggested above) towards Glasgow, the M74 and homewards.

Lots of stuff to do at this time of the year - maybe too much to take in a just two weeks.

wud suggest the west coast route up thro calander up to the highlands via glencoe /fortwilliam...then return via dalwhinnie/ east coast / fife...so terrific scenery and plenty of stoppin off places *wink*.......woteva you do ...enjoy gods country..i been here 17 yrs.....wudnt wanna live anywhere else

The problem is that so many organisations, tv stations, newspapers, websites and so on run 'best chippie' competitions that eventually every chip shop in Scotland will win an award for something.

For what it's worth my money is on McCallum's Wee Hurry. That's a bit of a misnomer - it's anything but quick.

Not all the fish consumed in Scotland comes from the North Sea. Troon and the small ports roundabout land fish daily.

McCallums (who won the Wee Hurry) is also the best fishmonger in the west of Scotland. You'll find them off Elliott Street behind Cranstonhill Police Station in Glasgow.
