"Anyone suffer from this? I’ve recently been diagnosed following a couple of hospital stays over the past six weeks and wondered how people cope with it? PS I’m currently on oral morphine and feeling great" Know very little about this particular condition but know of others in this area and diet is the most important. High fibre diet, wholemeal bread, nuts, fruits etc... It is going to be try and errors at first but you will soon manage to workout what suits you. Plus, lots of choices in the shops now if you decide to reduce your gluten. Go online search for groups, ask to speak to a dietitian, ask you gp/consultant for guidance too. Good luck OP

"Thank you all and that’s a good shout I will get checked for chrons I believe they will do a colonoscopy in 6-8 weeks so that will show anything else but hopefully not " Try a gluten free diet and see if that helps. Diverticulitis and IBS often go together and you’ll often find some food such as curry or dairy can set it off. It’s really more trial and error with what works for you. Keep a food diary. Ask for Picolax rather than Moviprep for the colonoscopy as there’s less of it to drink. You’ll follow a special diet for a day or two before it to help with the cleansing process. Make sure you have someone to drive you for the procedure as well.

"Male half here speaking from experience avoid all nuts and seeds, it gets easier to manage but always expect a flare up. Demand to be checked for colitis and crones also as symptoms can be very similar in nature. Good luck " Thank you mate , awesome profile pics you two look incredible ![]()

"Once I was diagnosed with my appendix burst so ended up having appendectomy and bowel resection after more than a foot of it removed. Have more problems now with the scar tissue than the diverticulitis. Hope you get it sorted OP." "Yeah been there. Without any symptoms of note other than what I thought were bad stomach cramps, then BAMM... Woke up with a fever, shaking all over, sweat dripping off me. After multiple probes and tests turned out I had diverticulitis and part of my sigmoid bowel had fused to my bladder. End result, during the peak of COVID, was admitted to hospital and had said part of sigmoid bowel removed, bladder corrected. Risk of ending up with a stoma but thankfully didn't. Ended up with temporary catheter until bladder had healed and a 5 / 6 inch vertical scar down my stomach after keyhole wasn't going to cut it. No pun intended. Was in hospital for 7 days, in theatre for 6 hours. Now, just over year later feel fine, now niggles. Cannot thank our NHS enough. I do eat more of a high fibre diet these days, and drink a lot more water." Have you had to stop eating. Retain foods for this or just the adding of fibre??

"Have you had to stop eating. Retain foods for this or just the adding of fibre?? " Wasn't advised to alter my diet as it had been quite healthy beforehand anyway. Have cut down the amount of coffee I drink, replacing it with water and diluting juice. Fibre intake has been upped a little bit that's about it for me really.
