We are currently considering taking a lease out on a room in Glasgow.

Offering on a day use/hourly etc and wondered if there was a need for such a thing?

West Lothian

I reckon you could get some interest in this.

I'm occasionally in the city centre, especially through the day it can be difficult to have a meet other than a social.

Reckon your lunchtimes could be fully booked

Better organise a mattress protector, I’m sure you’d keep it going with business

Not sure the neighbours would thank you for it though

The idea is more for those who arent free all day therefore hotel becomes an expensive option.

Just somewhere to go and relax in private for a few hours etc

Think you might need to consider the noise levels and how often it will get used. Fab friend just found out that the flat below him was getting used as a brothel!

Neighbours may object to the number of people coming and going and how can you control access? Someone may have a party in it.

Don’t get me wrong I’d love to have a place available like that but I can see the pitfalls. Also you have the laundry and security issues. How would people get in and you’d need to make sure no one trashes it.

Good luck. Let us know if you find a place.

If we did set this up anyine wishing to use it would be vetted first etc similar idea to cj's proof of identity for first booking etc.

Returnable deposit a possible. As for noise well not sure what you guys are like but im sure no one intending screaming the place down. Im not the quietest but consider where you are.

And offices in the same building have people arriving and leaving all the time so not an issue.

Nit something I would use , I think after time it would be obvious what the place will be used for and due to discretion which to me is so very important it wouldn’t work for me .

Not everyone is discrete and not everyone will abide by rules .

Thank you for your opinion and again not sure how this differs from any existing club re discretion etc.

In fairness only we know the location and believe it would work.

All feedback is appreciated.

Nothing wrong in what your offering the problem is price point hiring out a flat I would guess you would need more than a budget hotel charges.

Not sure of this concept ? Wont knock the idea without more info. Are you thinking of a fab meet type use ie lease for a couple of hours etc for nookie or even just a chill out time. If it was mainly a nookie room for rent wouldnt be for me. Who knows how many people may have COME here before you. Or are you offering a CLEANED room after every visitor. ??

I get the idea but you have already limited your potential market by needing to be vetted and have proof of identity.

How would you take payment, what would be the minimum/maximum rental time and cost, who cleans the room after every booking and what about liability insurance?

All these things are covered by basic hotels some which already offer day time half day rates.

Oh definitely would be good. Especially for people that can't keep forking out for hotels.

Swinging isn't cheap.

Also would make it easier for people with kids. Rather than having to keep organising babysitters, nights out etc.

I would be interested if I knew it was secure, discreet and

We've looked at this many a time for quickness as hotels are sometimes a pain for some, can’t exactly rock up and get the keys then hand them back an hour later without it becoming an issue if it’s a regular thing

Yes it’s a limited market plus you’d need to make sure it’s secure enough etc but that said it’s a nice market

Is the real idea behind this profit making??

Reply privatelyReply in forumReply +quote

By (user no longer on site) OP

Simple answer no its not for profit. Pretty sure there are easier ways to make money.

Havent even put together a business plan let alone costings or anything...its just somewhere that we could use...and if others also used it then it would towards the costs for us leasing it. The more that used it the better priced it would be for others. Almost like a co-op.

Oh ffs, I get a feeling Principle apartments will be looking for someone else to work with.

I worked in the past with the owners and I know for a fact they wouldn't take to kindly someone who works for them or with them being on fab

Or the landlord! Most leases have strict criteria around how the property can be used.

So really another Shoebox type place lol. If going to have traffic like that in and out of you home you may have to change it from residential to business then you might need to seek a sex Licence. Our friends looked into opening up a place and not as easy as people think. Look up the Laws etc A lot of these places could be classed as Brothels by Law!

I believe the op was looking to rent out to individuals as a room not fill the room with people and charge an entrance fee as shoebox does

Depending on the logistics of Paynent and ease of access I would most definitely use this. I infact have a business friend whom I would use something like with. We tend o meet on "business lunches" and when we can we fit something in but if there was somewhere we could in the city centre then it wouldn't solve a lot of problems for us. Will keep an eye on how things go. Let me know if yous get it up and running
