Since moving North, I've noticed people like soup more and more.

But what's the difference between a stew, broth and soup?

Thought days of home made soups were dead in Scotland, home made soup gives you all the goodness in a bowel ,add a bit of chicken or meat then you have lovely balance meal mmmmm

"Since moving North, I've noticed people like soup more and more.

But what's the difference between a stew, broth and soup? "

Stew is a dish of meat and vegetables in a gravy served as a main course with tatties and if you're lucky doughballs (dumplings)

Broth is a thick vegetable soup, usually also containing pulses such as lentils or split peas. The stock can be of any meat, though lentils are often paired with ham.

Soup is a runny liquid such as tomato or French onion.

Though if you are of a certain age, you'll know how to make pea and ham from a chicken!

Thanks for the education. Though, chicken and tomato lentil "soup" is probably more a broth

And the chickpeas soup served at work is really just curry sauce
