So with the new (and final) Star Wars due out in December I was thinking of watching all the others from now until then to prep for it.... question is.... what order?

Never seen any of them but surely you would watch in the order that they came out?

You could do that but that makes the storyline in the wrong order... tricky choice

Agree tricky...

1 watch from order of them coming out?

2 or watch them in order of story?

I'd personally go for option 1

lol

The last jedi isn't the final one, they have episode 9 lined up already, the new films were always chalked up as a trilogy.

Always watch in release order myself, the classics will always be the best

The Last Jedi isn't the last Star Wars movie, there's one more to come in 2 years time to finish that trilogy.

Next year we get a stand alone young Han Solo movie.

In 3 years time there will be another stand alone, no topic announced yet, Disney just said they'd do 6 movies in as many years. Rogue One last year was the first of the standalone, though it did obviously link with episode 4.

Anyway...

Watching them in numeric order at least gets The Phantom Menace out of the way first, though it might put you off continuing.

Watching in release order puts TPM in the middle.

There is an alternate order of 4, 5, then flashback to 1, 2, 3, then back to 6 and 7.

With any order you choose, you can slot Rogue One immediately before episode 4. It isnt critical, but does expand things a bit.

Sorry, I'm a Star Wars nerd

Ooh!! I agree... tricky question!

Perso, I would also watch then from the order they came out.

But again, in the correct order might be fun too

The "final film" bit was to separate those that know from those that don't and also to see reactions hehe I know bad boy, blame the lack of sleep

ah! last week I watched all 8 films. My order:

Episode I, II, III, Rogue One, IV, V, VI, Force Awakens.

Essentially, chronological order. I found it a useful way for the story to unfold.

However, something about Force Awakens just didn't seem right. Disney I think have ruined it....

It's not the last one, there is a stand alone Han Solo movie and then the final one after that...

Correct The Last Jedi is not the last film and in regards to order - pure genius - There is an alternate order of 4, 5, then flashback to 1, 2, 3, then back to 6 and 7.

It does put TPM 3 but there is enough to watch after to block it out

More surprising is the omission of the canon Clone Wars movie (and following TV series), which gave us one of Star Wars' greatest female roles and brought in a whole new generation of viewers. Slot that in between episodes 2 & 3.

Best skip The Holiday Special though.

Ewoks are so cute! I just found my brothers old ewok village toy in my dads house. Gave it to his son who did not seem to appreciate how ace it was

Hang on rewind a sec. The final one?!

It's not is it? The last star wars film was an off shoot wasn't it as it based just before the original 3 to steel the death star plans.

Then they had episode 7 before it with kai loren so I guess this Dec is episode 8 which follows on from the ending showing Luke.

That can't be the last one surely, is there not an episode 9? I'm distraught lol

If you watch from 1-7 that spoils "that" reveal in empire!
