Stolen from the forums..... and something for us maturer people!

Weather forecasters are saying that its going to be as hot as '76 (obviously not here in Scotland) This was 40 years ago... omg where has the time gone????

So if you were around, what were you doing, what can you remember?

I had just had my apendix removed, so I spent most of the school holidays indoors doing jigsaws. To this day, if I see a picture of Tutenkhamun's death mask, or Anne Hathaway's cottage, I get twitchy.

I was 16 and had just sat my 'o levels'. I ended up in hospital for a few weeks after an accident which changed the course of my life career wise as I didnt really go back to school afterwards.

I was also in love that summer.... my first love ???

Bloody hell!!!

Where has the time gone indeed, summer of 77 was almost as good too

Around 10 and what I remember most is swimming in the river

or going to the beach every day during the summer holidays,

inflatable lilos, beach balls and mr whippy ice cream cones as big as your head

And.... The bay city rollers

The summer of 1977 was awsome for me however I remember the 16th of August and the day we went back to high school as that was the day Elvis Pressley died and I remember my mum howling like a baby as she was a huge Elvis fan.

That's not so good... I remember my biology O level was the day after the Scotland France game - the pubs were open to three in the morning and everyone was out having a grand time... I was revising and didn't dare... I did get an A pass on my O level though lol

Glasgow

I bought my first motorbike in 1976. It was a BSA Bantam that was so bad I traded it back in to the dealer 6 weeks later for something a bit faster.

I used to ride around just to try and cool off with jeans and a tee shirt. Nowadays I value my skin a bit more so always out in my leathers.
