Now I know I'm a bit of a list addict but it always bugs me that you can't check a list of who's going to a social. I'm guessing that it's cause the organisers can't edit the first post on the social threads here so you can't add to the list of who's going along.

Now call me an old perve... but I wanna know in advance who's going to a social so that I can have a poke round profiles and see who I might want to meet. I know you can rake through the threads but just cause someone shows interest, it doesn't mean they're actually going to attend.

Is there a reason that there are never any lists sent out? Can we have a list sent by PM before the socials we go to so that we can perve beforehand.

I'm surely not alone in the perve factor am I?

Any thoughts?

Theres a downside to it that you might not have considered.

Do the people on the list want someone who might/might not be going to know in advance that they're going to be there?

We know we wouldn't. How do we know that person isn't just snooping and releasing details to all and sundry.

Fab has been named in papers before...

It's not that I haven't considered it... I figure if you post that you want to come to a social on a thread in an open forum then people are going to see it whether there's a list or not. It's generally how it works on every other site but you can edit your posts everywhere else.

Whilst I appreciate the privacy angle... it's a little bit sad that we're all so cynical really. Would be nice just to be able to have a nose and see if anyone fits your preferences before you come along you know?

But I guess I can rake through the thread and write my own list....

However, I dare say anyone else could do the same if they were so inclined so wouldn't that be a possibility for someone to release details to all and sundry? Kinda blows the press excuse out of the pond really.

Given we all write stuff on our profiles and put pics up there, I don't imagine the press would have to hunt very far if they really wanted a story...

On this site its not compulsory that the organisers have to send out list just for perving reasons only or potential meets.

If you dont get on with someone when you attend the socials then you sit as far away as possible and try and stay out of each others way.

You can mostly see whos going from the thread where the organiser has told the person asking for places they are on the list or that they have been added to the reserve list.

But in saying that im a member of another site and if the organiser is asked for a list they have to provide one and mostly the people that are going are named on the official post.

But each site is different so its up too you if you want to go then add your name and go with the flow of it.

Erm... sorry, I think you misunderstand... whether I go to a social doesn't depend on who else is going.

If I want to go to a social then I'll put my name down, pay my dosh and go along. Which is exactly what I've done.

What I would like is to know who else is going so that I can perve their profile before I go so I know who to look out for. I don't give a monkies if someone is going that I don't get along with, to be fair there aren't many of those but I'm an adult and know how to behave.

It's a swinging site. The whole point of socials is to go along and socialise. I just wanted to have a bit of a chat about doing my homework beforehand, see if anyone else did the same. No need to be defensive... I'm not writing a story for The Sun!!

when we plan a social we pm everyone on the list who is going, so if someone is reading the forums then they still don t know who is on the list (as you said just cos they ask for places doesn t mean they are going).

you all so have a least 20 people that put there names down and don t turn up for one reason or another. so even if there was someone on the list its not wrote in stone they they will be their.

plus a social is a lot of work without having to worry about keeping list up to date in the forum as they tend to change a lot

It's not really practical to keep a list up to date on a forum here due to the fact that you can't edit your posts but I'd like to think that someone who's organising a social would keep a list of who's asked to attend... else how do you keep track of numbers and who's paid etc?

You've no idea how much that made me twitch!

I bet no-one does name badges any more either do they?

Although its possibly a good idea to send a list of those attending to all those on the list, im gonna bet that more people wouldnt like it than would, so easier not too.

I have a spreadsheet... name, profile, date enquired, date info sent, number of places, date paid, amount paid, blah blah blah.... Wouldnt be hassle to copy and paste the names into the PM when we mail out the venue details, but dont think that majority would appreciate it.

Yeah, I guess times change. That was always half the fun for me. The first munch I ever went to back in 2006 I printed off the list and quite literally went round the room and met absolutely everyone on it.

I loved the banter from the forums and wanted to put faces to all those names I'd bantered with and I didn't want to miss out on anyone. There were snogs to be had!!!

I dare say I'm wishful thinking that things were back to the days of old when we didn't really mind people knowing we were going along and it was all exciting that you were going to get to meet people that you'd spoken to online for so long. We all swapped name badges and I have a tin of other people's badges in my naughty chest.

Those were the days before paranoid, cynical thoughts that the press would get wind of things when people knew how to keep their gobs shut about venues and stuff.

It wouldnt bother us if our names were sent out on a list....but i would imagine a few folks wouldnt like it...thats the problem...certainly wouldnt bother us thou.

As for name badges.... a lot of the time the venues of socials dont know that the crowd are swingers so with names such as bigknob and comefuckme etc....it wouldnt be appropriate lol

I've probably been lucky in the past with the munches and socials I've been to... most of the venues were swinger friendly so name badges were never a problem.

Mind I didn't think that through when I chose my username... if I had a quid for every time someone asked me how dirty I am I'd be in New York shopping for shoes right about now!

You would go to New York just to shop for shoes

DG you can perve roughly who has asked to attend, although sometimes its fun guessing usernames to persons on the night.

and yes it is i agree but some people would be crapping themselves prior to attending .

we have not attended one and i know my other half would nae sleep for being nervous the night before .

for some people a room full off strange people can be traumatic without adding to it

until you start chatting best to chat to someone you no nowt about . then everyone in the same boat

Also some people dont ask for tickets on forums and mail requesting tickets in a private message due to descretion also ,it adds to the fun of not knowing whos going and if your going to come eye to eye with your worst nightmare on the night

We have been to socials in the past where name badges were given out...and yes it helped..but now with the smoking ban... going outside with a badge on with some of the names on site just now..begs for questions from other smokers..the d*unker you get.. you forget to take the badge off....lol..

Not sure lists are much use - even if people have paid and confirmed etc - life still happens and they may still not turn up.

I think a social should be just that - see who's there when you get there and chat to them.

There are loads of ways of helping that along as I'm aware that lots of people who go to socials are still quite shy - especially if it's a first one or they are relatively new to the site.

Some fun team challenges where people are put together at random - always a good start - gets the ice broken.

Just came across this.....BUT We have to agree with DG, we have been to a few socials now, and are still nervous walking into these events on our own. So in the past we have had a trawl through the self confirmed attendee's to see if there was a couple or single

who "ticked our boxes" so to speak.

Firstly, YES to perv potential playing partners (Be warned...we could be looking at you. lol!), and Secondly to perhaps meet up with peeps we've chatted to before, and have some friendly face point of contact to sit with or join their table etc.....which could then lead back to our first point!

NOT in the slightest bit worried about people going we do not get on with (Don't think there are any we don't get on with) But if there was, then in a large Function hall, they can be discretely avoided.

Sorry FifeLass, I fail to see where publishing a list could lead to your house getting burgled, as it is only your user name on a list. (any other info is on your profile at all times)....BUT happy to come up and go through your drawers anytime!

Lists are a great idea ....saves you mailing and asking ppl are you going, are you going etc. Yes folk have to cancel last min for all sorts of reasons but such is life ...

The list would only contain your username not your full name, address, NI number etc so im failing to see where this becomes undiscrete.

As for the press .... a list containing usernames is hardly front page material now is .... or any page for that matter, what exactly they gonna publish: - Comeovermytits and Suckmydick are attending a night out in Glasgow this evening

Interesting one this, as someone who holds regular parties I often get asked for lists to who is coming, usually i refer them to my friends list and say most of these. While I don't see the harm myself I have to respect others wishes not to be named on a list. Although it has not happened at any of my parties I have been at one where two couples who should not have been in the same room together turned up and it was interesting to say the least!!!!

Interesting... for me private parties are a whole different kettle of fish. I certainly wouldn't attend one of those without knowing who was on the list. Past experiences learns me well.

Given that there's way more likelihood of play going down at a private party I'd definitely want to know who else was going (a) from a possibilities point of view and (b) from the point of view of those I may have turned down (or who may have turned me down) being there. Awkward is not something I relish.

I guess we all have different ways of working.
