Have been chatting on here for a few weeks to a youngish couple from Glasgow who are very keen to meet. However the female is not keen to talk on phone saying she is very very shy with people on the phone so am i right in being wary? They have two Verifications which are not displayed but are showing they were six months old but couple say the people have left the site so not available. Would this be right?

Yes... the verification would still remain in the summary but won't show if they've left

I would say to trust your instincts. Shy on the phone is a little pathetic if she is keen to meet you!

The phrase was 'social anxiety's which I took to mean shy! It actually states on their profile verified by two females, latest six months ago!

What I meant by this is the verification text won't show if they've left but in the summary it will still say either a female or couple or whoever left the veri

To Shy To talk on phone.

Drop them like a dead donkey, doesn't matter how hot you think they are

If you go ahead and it turns out you meet them and it goes well then fantastic for you but me personally, I'd just stop

I don't chat on the phone

But I'm genuine?

What I would say is ask to see the veris on their profile so you can see a paper trail ...see if the veris are genuine

If they refuse..

Move on to someone else

Single chicks have to think 1st about the safety issue

You mean verified by fake female people posing as a guy...?

If you like the guy anyway, then go with it in mind that it's a single guy.

Otherwise, as someone has said bovine scatology

Seriously why are you even debating this. The fact that you put it on a post must a made you think twice.

It's just not worth it, especially when you have to make up a post for advice on it. Bin them. oh and safety first goes for all gender I may add

Yep, decided not to pursue this one. Something doesn't seem right and although it's a couple which tick many boxes you have to have no doubts.

Thanks for your replies

It would depend on agoraphobia.

A vanilla friend of mine gets in a state meeting us girls in the pub. She texts me and I have to go out the pub to help her go in. 30 mins later, you would have no idea that she suffers from it!

Maybe meeting with her partner does settle some of her stress.

Social agoraphobia suffers are genuine. An illness difficult to understand for some

Always be wary on here I once went to a social meet and when my meet turned up she wasn't the person in the picture that she sent !!! After the excuse "it was my sisters picture I sent you insrtead of my own " the social went on from me going to the toilet and sharply leaving !!!

So yeah BE AWARE !!!

Whilst I understand why most are saying run a mile, I also understand the social anxiety.

There are a lot of people who find it difficult to leave the house or communicate on the phone. They find texting or emailing easier as they have time to form a response before typing it.

The anxiety comes from feeling 'put on the spot' or having to come up with an answer to a question quickly in conversation. For some this is an impossible task as they feel stupid or are worried they will come across like an idiot.

OP, only you can decide and I see you have.

But, it could genuinely be that the lady in question has no self esteem or self confidence.

Just a thought mind......

This is all true. However I wonder how meets would progress if they're genuinely that anxious. Some might require a lot of groundwork that I'm just not really prepared to put in.

I know. But I've met some very shy people on here and if you met them today you'd never guess in a million years as their self confidence has come along in leaps and bounds.

But it's always up to the individual to make a decision for themselves.

If someone can't speak on the phone due to social anxiety I can't see them being relaxed in a meet situation, so either a single male pretending or just total bullshit.

In either case, just not worth the hassle.

Same as the couples that contact me saying 'I the fem is away on business and looking for someone as a surprise for my hubby' yeah right, my picture does not come up under gullible in the dictionary!

I'm the chattiest person ever but when I am face to face with someone, or I know then then I'm happy to chat on the phone. I never speak on phone either to somebody I've never met before . I do get nervous and find myself being put on the spot as to how I am coming across due to nerves etc.

It doesn't mean they are fake but I guess you need to go with your own institution here .

Good luck op xx

I'm very decisive on this thread in my view as I'm experienced enough and been through crap on here, and a lot of fantastic amazing times) and if there is any doubt, I just would not go ahead.

Nawtys right about a good thread with people expressing their views but without doubt I do not trust this situation and just would not go near it.

On a meet I can handle any situation that is thrown at me but I like to know whats going to happen without any doubts thrust at me beforehand.

I think the Op, when making this post, prob thought the same way that she eventually decided on as she wrote it and just wanted to feel sure about herself, (soz if I am wrong) xx

There are tons and tons of people on fab now so if there is something a miss you can just leave it and know there are more people who will spark an interest for you

I understand the advise to be wary , but I that should always be the case when meeting someone new from here. Social meet first.

I have a handfull of friends who flat out won't speak on the phone to anyone won't answer and never call but are fine face to face. There are many different flavours of social anxiety and nobody can what is reasonable.

It could mean that they've not met for a while or taken a break.

But that being said, use your own spidey senses and if you are wary for any reason, walk away. You'll always find others to chat and meet with.
