Glasgow/London

Was chatting to a friend who is a teacher, and it seems schools are a more stressful place to be these days..

Immense peer pressure, and losing friends because you "forgot" to reply on snapchat or like someone's photo on insta/facebook...

Depressing world to be bringin up kids in ...just a thought!

I taught 16-18 year olds at a further education college for a few years and I agree

I really felt that the peer pressure was dreadful and that the students had it much harder than when I was at that stage in life

Narcissistic? It seems what kids value above all else is self image now. I pity the poor teachers trying to patch up kids warped by society and having to motivate them to learn.

I do think that life today is much more complex for youngsters with enormous peer pressure and added media expectations to look a certain way and have certain things. No easy answer to that but good basic values help.

PS no offence but giggling at the meaningless sex comment on a site that's very much based on NSA sex as a fulfilling and adult choice lol

social media puts kids under immense pressure . there is no escape even after school from bullying etc .

i know an 11 year old girl that recently jumped from her 4th story window as a result . tragic but she somehow only broke her back .

getting your kids to tell you anything is a start

If you watch the first twenty minutes or so of the film kidulthood, it's just that not for the feint hearted.
