Going to make myself look really stupid here but just seen my pal say on Facebook when u go through the Clyde tunnel you are under water. I genuinely never knew this.

Now I am sitting puzzled at how they managed to build a tunnel under the water without the water flooding it lol

Maybe I should be blonde ??

"Don't go anywhere near the Euro tunnel.... "

Someone else just said that to me. I did always wonder why they didn't just make it a bridge Instead of a tunnel lol just spent ten min on Wikipedia to find out how they did it.

I like to think I'm usually quite smart lol x

Don't know if still the same but was a gated entrance controlled by the tunnel control room - had to buzz to be allowed through

Out of curiosity, where did you think it went?

I thought it went over it. I did think why make a tunnel instead of a bridge. I have had it all explained to me by my grandpa today about how they dug under the earth at either side and then went under the sea bed and met in middle to create it so I'm not feeling as confused now lol

It's a Tunnel Boring Machine. However, the Clyde Tunnel was built using a different method.

There's a TBM under Glasgow at the moment building a giant sewer too.

God - I need to get out more

It's a song title for at least two bands , a fairground ride , a film or a lady's vagina .

The original Clyde tunnel was the rotunda down at the secc you'll notice there's an identical one on the other side of the river outside the STV studios
