Glasgow Masquerade Ball – Sept 24th 2011.

Following on from other threads:

We have secured a venue in Glasgow City Centre for Saturday 24th 2011 to hold the Masquerade Ball in.

The venue is a few minutes’ walk from the George Square area of the city. Obviously the exact venue isn’t released till a few days beforehand.

The venue is classy and intimate even though it can hold up to 200 people. We are hoping to get approx 150 people attending. It has its own private bar.

There will be a buffet on the night provided by the venue and will be good quality.

There will be a DJ and we have organised 5 Burlesque dancers that will be performing during the night, to give the event that little extra.

As this is a Masquerade Ball the dress code will be strictly on the Masquerade theme. Sorry guys, no jeans. Also no mask, no entry. Hopefully this will give people the chance to dress up. Anyone who doesn’t know what to wear for this occasion just Google ‘Masquerade clothing’ to give an idea. Most people will already have smart clothing and would just need to find a suitable Masquerade mask. (Even Steve will be dressing up!!)

The cost for this will be £20 per person. If any money is left over (due to more people attending than we have costed for) then drinks vouchers will be issued at the door to get some money off your first round of drinks, so please spread the word

• Due to the cost of us organising this we will be asking for payment as soon as possible as we have paid a deposit and the venue need full payment before the event can take place.

• Payment will be by Paypal only. We realise that some people wont have paypal but its secure and above all, means we don’t have to give our home address out. If this is a major problem then contact us privately and we can discuss. (All you need for paypal is an email address and a debit/credit card and you can even delete you paypal account once payment has been received).

• Only once your payment is received is you ticket secured.

• If you change usernames on site, then please do email us full details.

• You must tell us who the tickets are for when requesting for others.

So, if your interested in a social that will be a little different then please enter your names below (or, if you haven’t got access to the forums, private mail us)

Once you have shown interest we will email you with our contact/payment details as soon as we can.

A few people have been asking what to wear.... best thing to do is google masquerade......theres lots of ideas......you can adapt styles to suit yourself.....

Funnyly enuff its mainly men that have been asking...bless haha...

So far some men are wearing kilts, some suits, some tux's and some just a shirt n trousers.....hope this helps

you can always get a mask on a stick....i would imagine the masks will fit around ur specs ...would imagine one on a stick would be best thou

Just pointing out to anyone new to the site and is thinking of attending...

This is just a social.. a get together of people off the site in a private function room. It isnt a play event... although quite a few peeps may wander off to the wrong hotel room afterwards

Its open to all, Fems, couples, males, TV's and even Fugy's and Droopy's!!

On previous socials quite a few single guys and gals have been present, so dont be shy cos you have no one to come with!

Its a great way of meeting new folks, catching up with pals while having a laugh and a boogie!

Thats 108 tickets been requested so far (some by email).

Were hoping to get about 150 people, although the venue can hold more. Realistically though we dont want it too full!

Remember though, that until payment is made your not guaranteed a place.

Couple of those that have paid have commented that they have been charged for sending the money. When I (Steve) transfered money to test Jo's paypal I was NOT charged (nor was she).

Looking at the paypal website we can see:

"It's free* when you use your PayPal balance or your bank account linked to your PayPal account. There is a charge of

3.4% + £0.20 GBP*

for debit or credit card payments"

So, if your account is linked to your bank account and funds come straight from that there will be NO charge. If however you use a DC or CC then it will be about £1.56 for a transfer of £40.

Obviously, we only get the £40 for the ball, the fee is PayPals.

Just a note for the more creative amongst us... I was in Hobbycraft yesterday for something else and they have a whole load of masks that you can make and decorate yourself!

very adventurous....making one urself lol

was also getting told a shop in glasgow does masks but the person couldnt remember the name on it... anyone know of such a place?

Yeah I seem to remember buying mine in a wee shop in Manchester, I don't think they were that expensive and I've just looked on the bay of e and they are only a couple of quid.

Well i have one frock i can use, but the trip to Hillhead might make me choose another. and the bay of 3 had a lovely grey one in my size for £17

I haven't been into look but I'd say best bet for masks in Glasgow would be cyber which is in bridgegate arcade or hellfire which is on queen street

Hey there....number of peeps asking for tickets are now over 150...how fantastic...lots of new faces which is fantastic
