I have noticed this as well, most folk in Aberdeen /Aberdeenshire area are very reserved when it comes to meets etc, then you go down south a little bit even to Dundee and they are full of fun and then go a bit further south and you get clubs and parties happening every weekend, Aberdeen certainly ain't the most fun part to live in if looking for fun meets

I would disagree, while not as busy and bustling as the central belt, for what is essentially a village there is fun to be had.

In my opinion a lot of the problem comes from genuine swingers having bad experiences. The local scene is saturated with fakes and time wasters, as well as those merely passing through for work (be it offshore or the AWPR) who see this as insta-shag and can be quite disrespectful.

However anyone who attended last week's very busy social will tell you the scene is still alive and kicking!

The scene is definitely alive in Aberdeen, it is a tiny city where it's almost impossible to not bump into people or have shared connections. I'd say that some don't meet often purely because they can't find what they are looking for.

Again mentioned above is the sheer amount of fake profiles, the rise up here has been mental

I don't think there's the same standard of guys on here now. I used to enjoy the banter and made friends without ever playing with them. Nowadays it seems hard going. You do get the odd gem popping up but it's the bad ones who spoil it. Is it any wonder us girls get pissed off in our profiles lol xx

I realise that you ladies will get pissed off with the offshore / Awpr "insta-shag" as you put it, but there are genuine gents trying to get started on here and get lost in amongst all the idiots and fakes but even when first moves are made to message or request as friends it gets ignored or blocked.

I'm not aiming this at anyone as it seems fairly wide spread in Aberdeen area, just annoying that we seem to get tarred with the same brush.

I've openly said I'd like to socialise but can't seem to get anywhere because I'm not verified which is a double edge sword because how can I get verified if no one wants to break the clique and give newbies a chance?

To be honest not even this always works ! The amount of times I have spent reading someone's profile. Even those ones that are like to but butterfly in the subject to let me know you have read this. And then gone on to be nice and polite a little bit witty. But deffinetly longer than a sentence they still get ignored xD

I see all sides to this, I also read the profiles and follow the "entice the mind" approach to messaging, never once have I sent a "let's fuck" or "Hiya How's it going" message, yet nothing, like I said I know this site is a cock-fest but genuine guys get left behind, I've taken time to write a decent profile, none of this "looking for anything/ to shag everything within a 20 mile radius" to no avail...

we joined not that long ago and do find the scene in Aberdeen a bit non existent as it seems that there is a lot off fakers , time wasters , since the Club shut down ( we heard used to be a cool place to meet new people ) people have now reverted back into there shell ( other than the social recently ) and these Socials we have heard happen once every leap year lol . So maybe if a new Club started up it would change

i gather when it is one who refuses single males unless members of the kik group have shared the person / persons mind as we said we only heard it on the drums and dont have any concrete evidence but we do remember it ruffled a few feathers when we posted something about it in our status one day

I must be one of the lucky guys in Aberdeen to be verified for socials and meets. It definitely requires patience and there has been more than one occasion when I thought about throwing in the towel. I was a member for a year before I was verified. I can only say that one of the best things for guys is a group social, keep an eye on the forums as the last one was announced we'll in advance. It's not all about non social meets as I have friends on Fab that I haven't and might never play with it have met through Fab.

Be respectful, be patient and just keep trying. Not everyone will want to meet you but some will eventually

I will be honest no one can expect a meet just because they have read a profile or sent a nice message I've been on a wee while now and no meets but I understand not everyone is the right match so I respect a woman's decision and do not hold any grudge at all.i know my biggest failing is that I'm married but that's why I turned to a swingers site,but if that's not to a woman's taste fair enough.but I am being very patient as I prefer to get to know the people first and treat them as you expect to be treated and I don't believe in nasty replies what's the point doesn't get you anywhere.at the same time I have a couple of women that I chat with regularly if I never meet them I'm fine with that at least I made a new friend I can live with that.

i have stayed Aberdeen for 31years and moved up here in its hay day but as to the swinging scene Aberseem is a small fish in a big pond , now before some people jump down my throat i have been on 0the swinging scene for 5 years ( this site ) but know others who have been doing it 10years or more swinging and on here and they have said the same for its size it has very little happening ie socials until recently but these dont seem to happen often like down the road does. Now it used to have a club before the Club opened and only the harden knew about this again as it was kept quiet so on that i would say Aberdeen is rather reserved but i get by and have meet a good few nice people and long may it continue

It's a bit of a conundrum. I have just moved back here from Cambridge which is smaller than Aberdeen. Having been on this site for about 8 years in various guises, I would say things are a little slower up her.

Well said Busty and bang on. As you know lots of good honest people as well But some of the more transient lot and local twats have kind of made the large amount of decent people up here a little more discree and perhaps takes a little longer to build trust. But what I would say is that from our limited experience is that the ones who know each other, many just as social friends, have a brill time, and the banter up here is immense, and the group of reliable trusted people is ever increasing. I would say rather than a backwater mentality Aberdeen is more fun, and safer for everyone involved with a lot more fun and genuine friendship....

"Aberdeen as a place I don't like - sorry aberdonians but I just don't! However........ I've had some fun up that way and the people are great even if the city isn't lol.

The grey granite is not to everyone's taste but this is the only place I've ever really put roots down - I love the face that you can drive for 1/2 an hour or less and find fantastic beaches and hills

The streets are reasonably clean compared to somewhere like hull(where I was born) - it's the first thing I noticed when I moved here lol

Having said that it's a long way from anywhere for travel, and I could see myself being happy in Edinburgh- there's so much to do there!

I used to go out with a lovely girl from Aberdeen when I was way younger,used to have a blast going up every weekend,had some great times and memories from there,it was a hoot

I think a city is it's people so your statement is pure contradiction, as an Aberdonian i am proud of it's population, and to say its souless is harsh.No offence to any incomers on here but you have developed your own cicles up here...ie oil& gas, awpr and Dan Dara to name but a few, i think the word guarded would be better used rather than souless. It is a beautiful city with beautiful people....just saying

It don't thinks that's it's necessarily a contradiction as People only make part of the city. It all appears a bit drab to me.

As I said.... just my opinion everyone after all sees things differently

I've been here 15 years and I find the city soulless, it sold out to Oil and Gas and without it the city is lost, it has no culture or identity.

Any attempts at bringing in some culture or something exciting is met with disdain, unless it lines Willy Youngs pockets. Union street has been left to ruin, tourist attractions and museums are bare and outdated. And quite a lot of Aberdonians are at vest guarded, at worst downright rude and unhelpful.

But I love that I'm only a 20 minute drive to amazing sights, the universities are excellent and you have awesome seafood

Its obviously afforded you a certain quality of life for you to remain here,people are what you make of them and everyone has thier own opinion, i think there are still a lot of positive's to be taken from the city and surrounding area's. There are negatives but every city has a downside.

Of course there are parts of the city I love but thats not why I settled for so long (met and married a local) unfortunately as I have an English accent I've encountered more hostility on the streets here than in any other Scottish city I've lived in.

And agreed, I couldn't move back to Liverpool, they just don't do fish and chips like it lol

I like aberdeen but I kinda agree with the soul-less comment it does feel like folk are very guarded. But thats also part of its charm you get diffrent interactions with folk.

Genuinely sorry and ashamed to hear about the hostility you have encountered.

The ashvale isn't even the best chippy in north east,in fact not one of the better ones .
