Go with your gut?

You get a message from a sparse but verified profile, gut says it's fake or do you give the benefit of the doubt that there could be good reason?

Always like to see the good in people so give them a chance to prove they are genuine but maintain a cautious view so not to dissapointed if your gut is correct.

Go with your gut... Unless you had a dodgy lunch...

Fake people are easy to spot.. They just don't behave normal

We tend to check the verification, if possible, to see if the person who verified looks genuine. If it's a hidden verification then we're far more wary. See so many new profiles who are verified right away and that's it. You can look at them months later, if they're still around, and they still have only the single verification from the day they joined.

Yeah I know what you mean. Lots of profiles been on a year, verified 11 months ago, 1 public image and that's it, hmmmmm!

To be fair, I'm not that desperate that ignoring one profile is going to be a big hardship

Your gut might be right, then again it might be too early to say for sure.

If you think it might be worth following up you have nothing to lose by chatting for a bit then asking to speak on the phone so you can get a better idea about them.....

Depends on if you think it might be worthwhile or not.

Benefit of doubt is good way to get catfished.

As you say, missing one profile is no loss.

OP you have to remember....when someone leaves, so does any verification they have given...So it can look bad for some.

Someone correct me if that has changed..?

I dunno, I don't have many verification's, and I'm 100 percent, there are a few that are legit, but caution is always good

The actual verification disappears but on the summary the numbers remain

I take on board all the points raised here, all very valid.

Think the combination of being on a while, only one verification just after joining and only having a single image is what set alarm bells ringing, had it been just one of those things I probably would have overlooked it

That's pretty much how we view things as well if there's any doubt. Couldn't be bothered digging too deeply and possibly wasting time when there's plenty of obvious genuine profiles out there. If someone does turn out to be genuine and you ignored them it's no big deal.

Go with FIRST feeling and don't try to think it through.

Be as instinctive with the "feel" of the profile as when you "know" you have reached last rep....!

If they are hidden does it not still show in the count? This was actually only a single verification.

Speaking as a single guy I'd be glad to receive any contact. However couples and girlies should be careful, and probably go with the gut.

I normally go with my gut and i also double check verifications if possible ie they have 6 verifications in 8 weeks all from people that joined 8/9 week's ago , but i suppose we were all new once so can't hurt to give them to go on cam in chat if they are genuine and intrested they will normally be happy to show face

What's to say they simply haven't met ppl during that time?

Especially for single guys. I've been on here for yrs but rarely meet anyone simply due to a lack of connection or interest.

My last acc was verified with a social meet and so far not met anyone using this one.

Also what's to say they can even show verifications? When ppl leave the site the verifications go to, But the ppl they verified stay verified.

I'd say dig a little, this site is too often negative and sceptical. I say allow them to show they are genuine. Give them the benefit of the doubt.

Agreed. I have been on a few weeks now and keep adding to my profile, so would expect someone that's been on that long to have more on it. Time to move on

Scepticism is good on a site like this. There are more than enough clearly genuine profiles out there for us to avoid the ones we have any doubts about. We're not missing out on anything by refusing to give them a chance or digging deeper.
