you cross the N. Korean border illegally, you get 12 yrs. hard labor. If you cross the Afghanistan border illegally, you get shot. If you cross the U.K. border ILLEGALLY you get a job, a driver's license, food stamps, a place to live, health care, housing & child benefits, education, & tax free business for 7 yrs. No wonder we are a country in debt.

Is it just me that thinks like this ?

Surely a pension from the NHS is a benefit, no?

It may just be you.

Nobody who is here ILLEGALLY, as you shout it, gets anything - except maybe emergency NHS treatment.

Anyone here illegally is obliged to remain below the radar or risk being deported. You get nothing official. There's just no mechanism for it.

That's not to say that their compatriots who are here legally don't assist them in some ways but that's a long way from getting a council house from the council.

You might disagree about who we should allow in LEGALLY (my shouty this time) but that's another matter.

Totally agree with what aasex says, I was unemployed for a while recently and couldnt get a cent as I have my forces pension. Woodered why I bothered serving all the years I was in. Finally managed to get a job but had to fight of incoming workers to get it.

It annoys the hell out of me when we have entrants into the UK demanding asylum.

The rules on seeking asylum state that you must seek refuge in the nearest country available.... Instead they cross a whole continent, travelling thru many other EU countries just to get to the UK...and then claim persecution in their own land!

Hence the debacle at Callais where everyday these migrants gather, setting up camps just to grab any opportunity to jump a ship over here..... Surely this should be halted. The EU should deport these people to their homeland instad of turning a blind eye.

Yes we are made up of Celts, Anglo Saxons, Vikings and other past conquerers, our gene pool is very much mixed, but the time is long past when we should stem this flow.

i say kick them all out . if they dont ask for help in the first country then they dont deserve to be here.and if anyone from another counrty breaks the law then they should also be kicked out when the minute they finish there jail term (straight to the airport and sent back to where they came from)

Im afraid, thanks to the EU judiciary, the UK is now banned from returning any foriegn nationals to their own country, even after they commit a criminal offence. Anything from petty crime to murder and the UK must allow them to stay here indefinately UNLESS the UK government can guarantee the crimianals personal safety, and non persecution back in their own country!

What a load of bollocks!.The UK now no longer has an effective deportation policy thanks to the EU.....Cheers to all those "Euro" supporting politicians in Westminster for creating this situ

the EU only introduced these laws coz they know there all tring to get here and don't want us throwing them back at them so make it so we have to keep them. the EU is making this country worse why is it so hard for the goverment to see this when we the people can.

and they can only deport someone who has their passport so alot of them get rid of them before or sortly after getting here so if they get caught theres pretty much nothing the gov can do because of EU law.

Maybe everyone getting on a plane (or a boat or a train or whatever) should have their nationality and passport number tattoed somewhere on their body.

That way we'd know where to send them back to.

Yeap, my dad is in the same position, was made redundant last November and because he has an army pension after serving over 30 years, he gets bugger all! Also when he was working, he was taxed twice, once on salary and again on pension, go figure!!!

Surely it isn't the fact that he HAS an Army pension but the size of it that matters

If anyone has an income over a certain level from any source it counts towards whether or not they qualify for means tested benefits. He isn't actually being penalised specifically because it's an Army pension.

Capital can affect entitlement to means tested benefits too.

Yeah. It isn't very nice but it's not a nice world.

In my defence I'm not suggesting we do the tattoing across their foreheads or anything quite so obvious - it could be hidden away somewhere.

Most importantly, it's a lot less brutal than branding with a hot iron, so there'd be no bleating from the human rights lobby.

We haven't really had an Empire for a number of years and the idea about we Brits being 'allowed to allowed to cross borders n exploit foreign lands' is laughable.

Have you heard of gunboat diplomacy? If you doubt the reality - check the borders of The Gambia. They almost perfectly reflect the landmass which a canonball from a Royal Navy man of war (there's another hint in the name) could reach.

There are those in certain political parties who'd agree with that.

Others would make exceptions for the Old Commonwealth.

Others would excuse the New Commonwealth.

Some wouldn't mind so long as you're parents are from the EC.

There are still those who'd decide on the sole basis of the colour of your skin.

Not to me.

The fact remains there's plenty of people who judge their neighbours or the people in the corner shop or the local takeaway or television personalities or their elected representatives or ........ by their ethnic background and/ or the colour of their skin and will make value judgements about how well, or otherwise, they deserve to stay in the UK.

Mic 45 i personally have nothing against any colour or creed staying here. What i personally do have a prob with is the mass of economic migrants gathering in Callais. coming over by whatever means and claiming political asylum, human rights etc.....If they have issues in their own countries then they should/must go the their NEAREST place of safety.....NOT travel across a whole continent just to target Britain.

My ex is a Sikh, born and brought up in Huddersfield, and had to explain to my daughter, who was 12 at the time, what repatriation meant. Her response? "Does that mean you would be sent back to Huddersfield?" Out of the mouths of babes. She then went on to do a speech in English class against the BNP and the response from the kids was amazing. I have to admit until I met my ex, I hadn't a clue about how difficult it is for "incomers". And given I am from Irish descent, my own relatives wouldn't have had an easy time of it when they came to Scotland.

Part of the problem is that there's no incentive for the intermediate countries to try to hang onto illegals who arrive there.

It's obvious most of the illegals are intent on getting to the UK because 1) we're still quite a prosperous country and 2) what little foreign language skills the illegals have are more likely to be in English - as a result of exposure to UK and US televison and cinema, pop music, invading armies and Imperialism in general.

The intermediate countries adopt a 'keep on going' policy as it gets the migrants out of their hair and into someone else's.
